To solve for x , x, complete the square. x 2 + 10 x + 10 = 0 x^2 + 10x + 10 = 0 x 2 + 10 x + 25 = 15 x^2 + 10x + 25 = 15 ( x + 5 ) 2 = 15 (x + 5)^2 = 15 x + 5 = 15 x + 5 = \sqrt{15} x = − 5 ± 15 x = \boxed{-5 \pm \sqrt{15}}
