Wireless phone charging

The above shows a schematic diagram of a wireless phone charging device which uses magnetic coupling. Which of the following statements is correct?

a) Alternating current flows in the coil embedded in the charging plate.
b) The phone is charged by self-induction.
c) Direct current flows in the coil embedded in the phone.

a) and c) a), b) and c) a) and b) a) only

Alternating current flows in the coil in the charging plate. DC cannot induce a voltage in the secondary coil. Although an alternating voltage is induced in the secondary coil in the phone, but there must be a diode in series to provide a DC charging current to the battery, so a "DC current" flows in the coil in the phone (tricky?)

But the current in the coil is ac... After that it has been converted to dc. So correct answer is a I think

doesnt self-induction refer to induction of an emf when a varriying current is supplied? doesnt that make statement (b) correct too?
