$\begin{vmatrix} 2 & n-2 \\ 4 & 3\\ \end{vmatrix} = 10 \implies n=1$

$\begin{vmatrix} 2 & n-2\\ 4 & 3 \\ \end{vmatrix} = -10 \implies n=6$

$6+1 = \boxed{7}$
