If a bottle and it's cork cost $26 , and the bottle cost $24 more than the cork,
what is the actual cost (in $) of the cork?

  • Let the actual cost of the cork be = x
  • then the cost of the bottle alone will = 24 + x
  • Therefore the cost of both the bottle and the cork will = x + (x +24) = 2x + 24
  • solving it mathematically we have,
  • 2x + 24 = 26
  • 2x = 2
  • x = 1
  • so therefore the cost of the cork x = $1

Same method in my solution dude. Really is an easy problem. :)
