Working together

Algebra Level 1

At Crate And Barrel, the worker Andy can craft a table in 6 days, while the worker Benjamin can craft a table in 8 days.

If they were to work together, how many days will it take for them to craft 7 tables?

1 day they can craft: 1/6 + 1/8 = 7/24 (table)

7 tables can be craft in: 7 ÷ 7/24 = 24 (days)

Andy's 1 day work = 1 6 \frac{1}{6}

Benjamin's 1 day work = 1 8 \frac{1}{8}

Their combined 1 day work = 1 6 \frac{1}{6} + 1 8 \frac{1}{8} = 4 + 3 24 \frac{4+3}{24} = 7 24 \frac{7}{24}

Total time = Reciprocal of combined 1 day work × \times No. of items

= 24 7 × 7 \frac{24}{7} \times 7 = 24 \boxed{24} days

in one day they can craft a table =1/6+1/8=14/48 so they will craft 7 tables in days =48/24*(7)=24

Can somebody help me find solutions to this question?

Anagram Cracker!!

Anagrams are problems related to shuffled letters which are needed to be arranged and made into perfect meaningful sentences without repeating the letters (letters can be used only once).

Here are some anagrams which you need to crack:

1) tuteauaewribeifslh

2) geaperioitrdspawsagnhabineod

3) enaednenetorfyimrw

Remember to arrange and make a meaningful sentence (one sentence from each group of letters), not single word. If you are able to solve this anagrams please inform me the answers as well as how you found the solutions to the anagrams.

Details and assumptions:

Example:

"My name is Anil" can be written in the form of group of letters as:

meailaysmnni

1day -> 7/24

? days - > 7

So, 7 multiply 1, then divide 7/24 = 24 days

The logic of problem is very simple. Andy is faster than Benjamin. If they start at the same time and end at the same time Andy will create at least one more table than Benjamin. Assuming this possibility, lets think Andy will create 4 tables and Benjamin will 3 (since total is 7 tables).

Days taken by Andy = 6days/table x 4 tables=24 days

Days taken by Benjamin = 8 days/table x 3 tables =24 days

This means if they start at the same time to craft 7 tables they have to work together for 24 days.

Since Andy can craft 1 1 table in 6 6 days, in 1 1 day he will craft 1 6 \frac{1}{6} of a table.

Similarly, Benjamin can craft 1 8 \frac{1}{8} of a table in 1 1 day.

Hence, when both of them work together, in 1 1 day, they will be able to craft 1 6 + 1 8 = 8 48 + 6 48 = 14 48 = 7 24 \frac{1}{6}+\frac{1}{8}=\frac{8}{48}+\frac{6}{48}=\frac{14}{48}=\frac{7}{24} of a table.

To craft 7 7 tables, the number of days needed is simply 7 ÷ 7 24 = 7 × 24 7 = 24 7\div\frac{7}{24}=7\times\frac{24}{7}=\boxed{24} , and we are done.

1/6+1/8=7/x 7/24=7/x x=7*24/7 x=24. Ans

Here we can use distance formula i.e distance=rate*time

here we take job=distance

total job or distance = man"a" portion + man"b" portion

Therefore 1=man"a"rate * time + man"b"rate * time

man"a"rate=1/6 and man"b"rate =1/8

therefore 1=(1/6) t + (1/8) t

solving for T ---> 1 = t/6 + t/8 1 =14 t/48 48 = 14 t Therefore t=24/7

This t is time required to make one table there to make seven tables

time required will be 24/7 * 7=24 days

A completes 1/6 work in one day and B completes 1/8 work in one day. Working together, they complete 1/6+1/8=14/48 work in one day hence to complete 7 tables they will take 7÷(14/48)=24 days.

Correct!

Let person A makes a table in 6 days, and B in 8 days. Two persons and 7 tables are to be made. Therefore both will not make same number of tables.

Since A is faster let him make 4 tables in 24 days (6 x 4=24) and 3 tables will be made by B, will take equal time 24 days( 8 x 3=24). Since both are working simultaneously in 24 days 4+3 =7 tables are made.

Let's call them as worker A and worker B.
Working speed of worker A = 1 table/6 days
Working speed of worker B = 1 table/ 8 days
If they work together, their combined speed = 1/6 + 1/8
= (8+6)/48
= 14/48
= 7/24
Therefore, they can make 7 tables in 24 days.

1 table is crafted in ( (a b)/(a+b) ) days. here , a = 6 and b = 8; so 7 tables are crafted in (7 ( (a*b)/(a+b) ) ) days

calculation : 7 * 6 *8/(6+8)

Benjamin will take 8 hrs to craft one table - so for 3 tables he takes 24 days. In the mean while other person will take just 6 hrs to craft a table so he will complete 4 times in the available time of 24 days. As a total 7 tables will be completed in 24 days.

on each table crafted by the first worker (6day) we save 2 days of the work comparing to the second one (8days) we craft the first two tables,one in 6 days and the second in 8 days,the first one will start his second table in advance of 2 days before the second one finsh crafting his first table: 6-8 (advance 2-0) 12-16 (advance 4-0) 18-24 (advance 6-0) which give us 6 days to craft the 7th table

Andy can craft 1 table for 6 days,while Benjamin for 8 days for the same table. 1/x=1/6+1/8; where x is the total no. of days consumed when they craft together for a single table. thus, 1/x=14/48; 1/x=7/24; x=24/7; therefore,they can craft a single table for 24/7 days, and if they'll craft 7 tables; it would be 7*(24/7) which is 24 days.
