Their combined 1 day work = 6 1 + 8 1 = 2 4 4 + 3 = 2 4 7
Total time = Reciprocal of combined 1 day work × No. of items
= 7 2 4 × 7 = 2 4 days
in one day they can craft a table =1/6+1/8=14/48 so they will craft 7 tables in days =48/24*(7)=24

The logic of problem is very simple. Andy is faster than Benjamin. If they start at the same time and end at the same time Andy will create at least one more table than Benjamin. Assuming this possibility, lets think Andy will create 4 tables and Benjamin will 3 (since total is 7 tables).
Days taken by Andy = 6days/table x 4 tables=24 days
Days taken by Benjamin = 8 days/table x 3 tables =24 days
This means if they start at the same time to craft 7 tables they have to work together for 24 days.
24days=4tables for the two guys and 24days=3tables for the one guy
Since Andy can craft 1 table in 6 days, in 1 day he will craft 6 1 of a table.
Similarly, Benjamin can craft 8 1 of a table in 1 day.
Hence, when both of them work together, in 1 day, they will be able to craft 6 1 + 8 1 = 4 8 8 + 4 8 6 = 4 8 1 4 = 2 4 7 of a table.
To craft 7 tables, the number of days needed is simply 7 ÷ 2 4 7 = 7 × 7 2 4 = 2 4 , and we are done.

here we take job=distance
total job or distance = man"a" portion + man"b" portion

How did I find that! Actually I’m not expert in Math, so sometime I leave the rules and think on my own way. ;)
