If $x$ is $\frac{1}{5}$ of $y$ when $y$ is $\frac{3}{8}$ of $z$ , and $z$ is 60, than what is $x$ ?

$x=\dfrac{1}{5}y,\;y=\dfrac{3}{8}z\\ x=\dfrac{1}{5}\left(\dfrac{3}{8}\right)(60)\\ =\dfrac{180}{40}\\ =\boxed{4.5}$

60 times 3/8 is 180/8. Then you multiply that by 1/5 to get 180/ 40, which is 4.5
