Steven ate through 7 bags of gummy worms and each bag contains 6 servings of gummy worms. Steven has eaten {6 X 7} 42 servings of gummy worms. Given that Steven has consumed just under 1,000 calories and from the previous information, the number of calories Steven has consumed must be a multiple of 42. Now, 1000, when divided by 42, gives a remainder of 34. Thus, the closest multiple of 42 to 1000 must be [1000 - 34] 966.
