a=number of zebras
b=number of ostritches
A zebra has 2 eyes and 4 feet. An ostritch has 2 eyes and 2 feet. We have the two equations,
2a + 2b = 30 (equation1)
4a + 2b = 44 (equation 2)
Subtracting (equation 2) from (equation 1), we get
-2a = -14
a=7 (answer)
