This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

most of them aren't serious at all(not me too is 100% serious ).....one of them stuck to a problem ....or could not understand what another member is saying and query about it....or someone gets involved in just making trivial comments on others' comments.....or someone writes some matters for dispute.....and everyone then springs over it like a wolf.......that's why ever and anon you would see a comment and also frequent "reply" to them to ensure that there is a huge list of comments.....
Ladies and gentlemen..... i know that 1+1=2...
it is the easiest problem in mathmematic....ever 5 years old can answer that problem....
But i hope that someone can explain the exact explanation of that problem...such as a proof of pyhtagoras theorm...
Thank You... and take it easy everybody.... :)
if you have one stone and another one stone that has the same characteristic and the same size, then you put them in one bag, then it would be two stone in one bag or one location. It called linear (same element) because the stone must has the same characteristic and the same size.
it will be easy if you see the Cartesian Coordinate Plane, remove the "y" line. You will see that zero is not zero, but zero will be an empty, not zero.
the (+) and (-) are kind of energy. In a universe, there are material and anti-material, same as the plus and the minus that present on Cartesian Coordinate or in daily live mathematics.
what will be happen if material put in one location together with anti-material? It will be annihilated to each other, the result is another formed of energy that has another or different characteristic. That is zero which usually defined in daily live. Zero, is usually to describe about everything that has same characteristic and the same size become there is no one has that characteristic and that size.
Thats too tough. I give up, can someone tell me the answer?
And please Bohong S. don't ask very tough questions here, this site is for much easier questions perhaps.
everything in a universe is complex.
there are no conclusion to each of them.
everything is undefined until it defined by human.
1+1=2 it is because human communication that make anything in one definition or one perception.
human recognize that the 1 is the symbol to define the one or one thing. It's just standardization to minimize the missundertanding or missconception between another human.
the + symbol refer to add, or etc depend on what speaker mean.
the = symbol refer to equal, or etc depend on what speaker mean.
same to the 2 symbol refer to two things, or etc depend on what speaker mean.
it's just make easier to communicate, not about really happen in the universe.
this is one of good question.

we're on this web site to do maths,not talk in a code language (i know twilight series is probably read by a lot of people,but not me so im confused )

nooo.....let me tell u one thing....about my own brother he isn't a born genius.....but its his own practise....which had made him perfect....other things....matters alot.....God isn't partial....He loves everyone and had given equal intelligence....to every person....:)

We only assume what we see is real, but nobody, yes NOBODY, not with all the proofs, can actually say that "This is real, and that this is unreal."

luk....for ur kind information.....m not being rude...but simply...tellling...you that Einstien was very much interested in physics...when he was a teenager....and at that time no FACEBOOK was there...therefore he never wasted his brains and precious time in doing...useless things...like we do....

why no one can be gifted...??.....well you see gifted is a liberal term....it always does not mean to be by birth but sometimes and many one thinks that it also may be cultured or nurtured......if you develop many tricks and techniques.....understand well the principle....have a good perspective at the subject.....you may behave like a gifted.....may be i wrongly used the term here but...that you say "no one is gifted" is also hackneyed....cause one who is not "gifted" could be transformed to "gifted" by proper ambiance....
@Sayan Chaudhuri
–
So, you supposedly mean to say that you can identify who is gifted and who is not?
Interesting that. Is your usage of gifted related to birth and god?
@Aditya Parson
–
nope......not at all.....i do not have any capacity or ability to detect anybody with their inborn acumen or whether they r "gifted"......but the term should not be confused with the everything related to birth,God,his well offering to anyone's brain,something related to supernatural and likewise......
@A Former Brilliant Member
–
o.k.....i accept that no one (but at least very few) is genius by birth.....but does everyone get the proper surrounding and guidance to develop himself and modify adaptiveness,required for being "next to genius".......you being a member of brilliant or being exposed to new books over vast region of new fields of mathematics could do something for betterment of your intellect....but those who could not even get enough books how can they be nurtured to be excellent.......i only want to emphasize that ambience and guidance under expert trainer or teacher makes the difference.....isn't it....?
@A Former Brilliant Member
–
Everybody is an expert in something or the other. A human cannot simply conclude that a person is better or superior to another.
@Aditya Parson
–
o.k. i am accepting your comments......let's close this trivial dispute among us.....please....it's a debated question ...let's put a stop.....please....i take oath not to say anything more....

hahahaha. unpredictable question, you're genius.
let me discribe this.

You are wrong its 0. It is a trick question,I see "Brilliant -1 + 1=" when I look at the title of the webpage on the title bar. #Smart assery :D
this reasoning appears really logical.......answer may be zero....:) (if the person who posted this post considers this as logical )

well......don't think there's nothing to get myself shut up.....then are you surely a big gun to boast off.........being already a 26 years old chaff and yet being a member till the may......you,lol,have nothing to prove your supremacy.......for you have solved only 20 problems till date and yet dancing with your level......a real joking you are to yourself.....and at last the important matter to be thought by everyone is that if all of the members of this community post a question like this would there be enough room for discussing over other great problems......and then you ,Dfgdf D,please don't showcase your levels.......there are many one who have intellectual brain in mathematics here not like you,so as you pretend to be.......
we must always try hard....to gain more knowledge.....and please i say it again and i really mean it don't think bad
but if u luk around...and search u'll find many people expert in some or the other thing...and aren't educated also....
the thing is we have to luk inside ourselves.....and there's a genius witin everyone.....
