Maryam Mirzakhani passed away today... She was the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal prize.

I would like to remember her last post on facebook: ''The more I spent time on maths, the more excited I got.''

It is very saddening to hear about the demise of a mathematician at such a young age. However, she would be immortalised through her contributions to mathematics. May her soul rest in peace.

She is a role model for mathematics enthusiasts all over the world. A wonderful woman indeed. It's very rare to find female mathematicmathematician and she was one of the rare gems. She achieved so much at a little age that too while being an Iranian.
