A New Math Competition

I bet you guys that you will love this new math competition that I found out about! The first round goes on for the whole month of January, and the second round goes on for the whole round of February, and so on. In total, there are 12 rounds (levels). Passing all of them gives you an opportunity to take an invitational test that can boost your career. However, this is only for 8 - 12 th graders, as the difficulty get's harder as each round goes on.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

What about someone who is completing grade 12 in middle of the year?

That is also acceptable. The prizes you get will benefit you the most.

@Vishruth Bharath OK, 1. In this round 2 Question Paper, The Figure for question 3 is missing..... 2. Also, I have noticed that some of the questions are put upon Brilliant and a friend of mine could directly submit the answers by checking them on the site, so it would be a fair competition if the questions weren't available on the net.....eg. Q5 and Q11.... 3. I frequently check Geoff Pilling's feed on Brilliant and two of the questions are copied from there.....viz. Q7 and Q10...... 4. I would appreciate it, if the solutions along with the answers would be shown after completion of a round......if not, then at least a hint should be given after the round finishes, so that by which suitable topic the question could be solved....

That's all......Otherwise the contest is superb.......It helps in brushing up the skills each month....Kudos......

@Aaghaz Mahajan Yeah, our bot compiles problems from across the internet into one 15-question test. I'll look into it... I'm not the main tech guy sadly

Thanks. Is the college credit applicable anywhere in the world??

Aaghaz Mahajan - 3 years, 4 months ago

Depends on which college you are applying to. Usually, most college credit is accepted throughout the world.
