A question on the Brilliant features

Hi!

I have a question for the staff of the community. Is it possible to hide levels from the community, and from oneself too? I personally loathe Chemistry as a subject, so I don't want my chemistry level to be visible on my profile,either to me or the community.If the very feature exists, please help.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Swapnil Das

My personal point of view is that showing level is a good thing. You should not be looking to hide it. For example, if you loathe Chemistry and your level is low in it, then go for improving your Chemistry section and eventually your level will be increased. And if you don't want to improve Chemistry, then why do you even bother about its level? Like for now I don't bother about my level in Physics or Chemistry or Quantitative Finance. Or I could say more directly that hiding level doesn't guarantee knowledge improvement. Please don't mind. Thanks! :)

Nice suggestion. Actually, I hate chemistry from the very bottom of my heart, so I didn't even want to see its name in my profile. I feel like cracking my monitor :P

Thanks for replying.

Currently such a feature does not exist on the site. If others think it is useful, we will consider adding that functionality when redesigning profiles.
