A suggestion to the brilliant staff

There are a very few new problems in the best of feed of mechanics, calculus and electricity and magnetism. There are no problems of high level like 2600 all the problems are below my rating in best of electricity and magnetism.I guess the rate of resharing new problems or adding new problems has decreased quite a bit.I would be very grateful of the brilliant staff if they could look into this issue.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

Actually, they decreased the rating of each and every problem..(i.e the problems which were earlier Level 4 and Level 5 are now of Level 3 and Level 4 respectively)

They even decreased the rate of giving new problems

One thing I noticed is that, the more your rating is, the lesser the number of problems which appear on the feed. (only the problems which are of your level or higher are there in the feeds)

This should not be the case, as the number of problems of a higher rating appear less frequently than say level 2 or 3 problems.

So, either this should be fixed, or there should be more problems of higher level.

@Anish Puthuraya For more problems, you can just go to the search bar and type in "." (without the quotation mark). You will see many problems and you can select the field of the problems(NT, Algebra) and even the level of it!

@Anish Puthuraya Yes , Its TRUE...............

I did observe this....The problems which had a rating of more than 2100 are now rated at just 1750 or so...and the number of problems have decreased sharply

Shikhar Jaiswal - 7 years, 3 months ago

The recent change in ratings aligned problem ratings with members ratings. We specifically targeted the range of 1000 to 2250, which is where most of our members are in. It will take a while to get used to the new rating values, and you should be challenged by problems that are close to your rating value.

As a rough guide, problems that are currently rated above 2000, used to be 500 points higher. With few exceptions, there are no problems currently rated above 2400.

But sir...this is a bit of a disadvantage for the ones who are new to this site. Also I solved some of the problems after they were relegated to a lower rating and didn't get the benefit that i would have got had they been at a higher level. I feel that the new rating system should have been applied to the newer problems and not those which have already been on the site for a considerable amount of time
