Measure the effects of a strong magnetic field on the flow of certain fluids through a pipe
"Solve" the problem of revealed preference theory in which the consumer can afford all options
(If you're willing to put in a lot of time) Derive unknown climates and tectonic positions from millions of years ago
Generalize "language" and explore the consequences and applications to previously inapplicable languages
Find the cause of Gulf War syndrome
(This one's a doozy, but go for it!) Prove or disprove the existence of a perfect cuboid
Unfortunately the effect is minimal, but at tiny angles with respect to the horizontal, it is observable. At Google, though, the finalists typically solve world problems or create new physical models. Perhaps it is finalist-worthy if you consider the applications to body armor!

Actually I don't think everyone will come up with such ideas, given the difficulty to make it . But yes , there are those DIY fans who do anything for fun !!
I'm too old for Google's science fair now, and I regret not participating while I still could. I guess what I'm saying is whatever you pick, stick with it and don't abandon it.

Congrats dude!!
I had planned to take part last year , but wasn't able to do so due to prior engagements . And looks like this year again I won't be able to make it .
