Accurate Rank in Stats

The stats always show a rough percentile of rank - For eg 98% or 67% etc. But that is not enough as it doesn't give an insight on how am I performing compared to others. 98% might be a good percentile score if it's in comparison to 100k (or 100,000) people but it might be bad if it's compared to 100 people.

So can you provide accurate ranks along with the percentile score provided? For eg -

Your rank is 98,000/100,000

Also, Brilliant is open to people of all ages and professions, from a rocket scientist to primary school student . While I do agree that age doesn't matter in solving problems, age-wise grouping of percentile would be helpful too.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

Thanks for this feedback Aryan, in the future we will definitely give you a more granular break down of your ranking, most likely by age.

Out of curiosity, are there other ranking metrics you would be interested in? E.g. percentile rank in your city/country? Or anything else? We would value your suggestions :)

I have received rank of Alegrba about 6 :) as shown in chart, and 100% percentile, but I am 13 and just able to solve level 3 quizz. What does all that mean?

I think rank within age , age range, and country should be useful.

I don't get why you have this value system at all. I don't care about my scores in comparison to other people, just if I am improving or not. A metric for this would be very beneficial as I think it would also increase my motivation to do more exercises.
