determinants of farming system
There are three ways by which crop and animal production can be increased. First, the yield per crop can be improved through genetic manipulation or plat breeding, and through the adoption of recommended cultural practices and production technologies. Second, the area of production can also be increased. Lastly, attempts to increased yield per area through the use of appropriate farming systems can be done. Farming, therefore, must no longer be viewed as a simply plant production and/or animal production but rather as a system. The farm ceases to be just a spatially defined area where production of crops and animals are carried out. It must be considered as an organized decision-making unit in which crop and animal production is carried out with the purpose of satisfying the farmer’s goal.
