It may be just me, but I noticed something weird. First of all, is there supposed to be no problem set in the technique "Absolute Value" Set 2 ? And second of all, under "Points Exchange" it says you can request a free lanyard once you achieve Level 4 or 5 in any subject area. It shows soon after in the text that I am currently Level 4, but now what do I do? Is there supposed to be a request button or something, or am I supposed to email someone, or what?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Hi Jay,
There is indeed no problem set 2 in absolute value yet. This will not be forever, we simply have not yet added a set 2. In general we add sets here and there everyday to the core math section.
Edit: We wrongly introduced the Absolute value sets, and have since removed them.
When you get to level 4 or 5, a button appears that allows you to claim your lanyard. According to your profile you are currently only level 3, and thus cannot see the button.
It is weird. Before the core mathematics change recently, I was level 4 algebra and trigonometry. Now it still says I am level 4 in the lanyard box, with no button.

Ohhh...I get it. That sounds like a bug. Before core math we did not give out lanyards to people with levels 4/5 in algebra/trig and calculus. The difficulty between the old "Curriculum Math" and the Olympiad Math section did not correspond across equivalent levels. That is part of why we changed to the Core Math format. There is a bug that still remembers your old level 4, and announces it in the copy, but still does not let you claim a lanyard. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

You are welcome!
"You can claim a green or blue lanyard free of charge once you achieve Level 4 or 5 in any topic within the Olympiad Mathematics or Physics categories. You're currently in Level 4. Keep doing problem sets to rise in level!"
