Ants are strong. Or are they?

Many people think that ants are some of the strongest creatures to have lived on earth; they can lift several times their own weight which is of course true. Have you ever wondered what makes them so strong? Imagine the following scenario: A mad/evil scientist scales up an entire colony of ants to the sizes of elephants. Will he rule the Earth with this army? Give your answers along with your reasons.
