April Newsletter

Hello Every0ex dx From the Moderators to You: Happy April!\textbf{Hello Every} \displaystyle \int_{-\infty}^0 {e^x \ dx} \\ \\ \textbf{ From the Moderators to You: Happy April!}

March has gone by fast! Everyone is rejoicing the end of their examinations and are active as before, and Brilliant is enjoying it. April marks the start of the Troll King Contest. Here are the highlights of the month.

NEW   FEATURES   TO   BE   EXCITED   ABOUT\large \mathbf{ NEW} \ \ \ \mathbf{ FEATURES } \ \ \ \mathbf{ TO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ BE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ EXCITED } \ \ \ \mathbf{ ABOUT }

The Brilliant community is always undergoing awe-inspiring growth. These new features are meant to foster an incredible experience on Brilliant. Excited to hear about what's in the spotlight this month yet? Okay, here we go:

1.The Search Toolbar

This toolbar allows you access to all of the Brilliant. You can filter even better. Find anything you want.

2.DogTex

Cute Dogs can teach Math better. Math and science can be difficult. We'd all like to be Level 5 in everything, but sometimes a crazy problem gets us down. But what if there was a better way to learn math and science? That's where DogTeX comes in!

THE   POSTS   COMMUNITY   LOVED\large \mathbf{ THE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ POSTS } \ \ \ \mathbf{ COMMUNITY } \ \ \ \mathbf{ LOVED }

From problems to solutions, from notes to wikis, these are the posts that were highly appreciated by the whole community. Here's your chance to have a look at what captured our attention for the past month:

  1. Popular Notes:\textbf{Popular Notes:} Nothing better for the JEE Aspirants other than Sandeep sir's five minutes revision notes. He has posted the Mathematical Reasoning for JEE-Mains to ensure you get 120/120 in JEE. Don't forget to check it out!

  2. Huge Events:\textbf{Huge Events:} There is an ongoing Troll King Contest '16, don't forget to fool others. Show off your Problem writing skills at the Problem Writing Party: March 28th - April 10th.

  3. Contests:\textbf{Contests:} Since the exam season ended, Brilliant was flooded with contests. There were Brilliant Junior Integration Contest, Brilliant Sub Junior Calculus Contest and the Brilliant Junior Number Theory Contest. Be sure to learn new techniques and ways from these AWESOME contests.

  4. Popular Problems:\textbf{Popular Problems:} Problem Yard is the other name for Brilliant, and last month, as usual, Brilliant was showered by them. It was very hard to select and here goes nothing(actually 2 problems, not nothing :P)
    Fermat's Last Theorem, the image might be mesmerizing your brains but remember internet images LIE. Earth In Trouble? , is it the waves, the mass or neither which is putting earth in trouble. Go SAVE it.

NEW   AND   ACTIVE   MEMBERS\large \mathbf{ NEW } \ \ \ \mathbf{ AND } \ \ \ \mathbf{ ACTIVE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ MEMBERS }

As time goes on, more and more people join the community, and a few of them are very active in contributing to the community by posting problems, solutions, wikis, notes, and pretty much everything else to the point that we should honor them as hardworking members. Let's give a round of applause to James Wong, Guillermo Templado, Yash Jain, Shithil Islam, Mark C and Jack Sacks.

WHO   TO   FOLLOW\large \mathbf{ WHO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ TO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ FOLLOW }

Here's the long-awaited WhoToFollow list showing off the dazzling members of our community. I'm pleased to introduce you to the wonderful people who are constantly helping to build the community. Here are the names, in no particular order:

Be sure to hit the +Follow \color{#20A900}{\boxed{\text{+Follow} \ } } button to keep yourself updated with the amazing problems and notes posted by them.

Don't forget, you can always join our Slack chat if you want to talk with our community members. Introduce yourself, share problems, have discussions, join the wiki collaboration parties too. Most of all, have fun. Oh, I just remembered a joke. Let me crack right here:

A man walks into a bar.
Bartender: What's your order, sir?
Man: 10 pints of vodka.
Bartender: Now that's an Order.

Regards

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

You what is an Oder of a number ? Eg : 21 is written as 2.1 ×101\times {10}^1 , the order is 1. Since he said 10 , He meant an Order. Get it ?

Hmm, thanks. A joke is like a frog, you can dissect it but that kills the joke, like Randall said.
