i propose to add brackets in your problem 2. like Lâm Lê said: --7 or even +-3 is very uncommon. maybe it is a very new thing, but i've never seen it.
annotation: the commutative law ab=ba is valid in your problem because its about real numbers. if it were about matrices then this is not always true.

yeah i know, i just wanted to inform you that there are things in maths where the commutative law cannot always be used.
so i value that you mentioned a* b=b* a in your introduction.
regarding the other remark:
does your teacher use --7 ? or does he/she use -(-7) ?

I don’t really put it because in algebra they teach you that the symbol always belongs to the value on the left as a basic rule but if you want I can do that
