BITSAT -2015
Hi guys.. Now that jee main is over and we all pretty much know our results I wanted to know if there is anyone studying especially for bits and if so what are you doing differently.
Also any advice from seniors and other members of the brilliant community will be appreciated.

offcourse ... I'am too weak .... Since they ask very tough word meanings .. which is tangent overr my head ....
I'am expecting maximum to maximum 25/75 in (LR+English) I always get less than this in my Bits Test(s)

Well my English isn't really weak so I can't help you much but there are books you can refer to and practice from..let me know if you want the names..

Till now I just have a book my cousin gave me...an Arihant publication ...but I wanted to know where else I can prepare from... Also which coaching centre is good for their online test series..
finally !! I found someone... Everyone else is like study for advanced and bits will be easy then..I'm tired of telling people I don't want to study for advanced..
This time are you focusing on getting those 12 extra questions for a bonus??

Personally I feel those extra ques decision should be taken on that day itself...after Jee I've learnt not to rely too much on past paper scores or patterns so for me I will chose on that day itself..
Well I am also all up to BITSAT now as I choked up very badly in my JEE due to health reasons..

Personally I am just going through all my classes modules and this time and going for speed this time as its BITS so its speed that matters. And then question papers in the last 15 days. Also I have heard there are some good prep books for BITS, maybe I'll try them out if I get time.

These link are pretty good ...thanks.. Yes I'm also doing that and I'm also focussing now a lot on ncert...to try and rem small facts which bits tends to ask ...I'm not sure how to really rem it all but I'm trying...
I ordered A complete success package for online BITSAT 2015 by arihant. It's a very good book actually. Book focuses on question of BITSAT type, sample papers and CD are provided for test so that we can be familiar with the exact questions and time limit. I recommend this book who want to specially spend time on preparing for Bitsat.

No not much. I downloaded some sample papers from scribd for BITSAT, that's it.
Are you doing anything other than that book? Like test series and stuff?

RIght now I'm solving the Arihant Package for BITSAT .
I have solved just 3 papers till now , and my scores lie between 310 to 350 . But I really think that to get selected in the Pilani campus , I must get 350+ .

No they're not ! I even got scolded by my dad for not getting 350+ .
Oh well I'm aiming for goa campus ....so 300+ should be fine right? Also what is the time limit your keeping while solving Arihant...?

Yeah Shweta , 300+ is a good score for Goa Campus (why do u want to go to Goa ? ;) )
Last year a friend of mine got into the Goa campus with a score of 290s , so it should be easy for you .
I don't have a rigid time limit.
Chemistry: 45 minutes Maths:60 minutes English and Logical Reasoning: 10 minutes max. Physics: Remaining time
Frankly speaking , I have really less knowledge about this time limit thing . Can you tell me about yours ?It'll definitely help me out :D

Because I live in goa... :/ 290... Ok then...will try to manage that much... I'm at 275 now.. I don't keep a time limit that's why I was wondering...but yeah I keep around your time ...only exchange phy with chem...

Yes I could ..... But as if a moderator try it out then their will be a lot of people's participating in it ........ But if I do it then their may not be many as moderators could do that ........ By more people's we will better understand the current situation going in bitsat. ....... This is acc. To me .........

In LR diagram problems were shit! No logic in it(no clear logic was observable). I'm weak in english so for me it was like ,to go with this option or that, both feels equally satisfying in few problems.
If you can attempt 130 or 135+ problems I think you should attempt all because, even if you made all 15-20 problems incorrect you will get -15 or -20 for that, but in 12 problems most of them are real lollipops(this was according to my friend) so you can easily score above 20 in them. My bad I should have gone for them but ok I am satified.
I don't know about syllabus but in my paper there were 3-4 problems in which I was clueless, 1 in physics (it was about prism spectrometer) and 2-3 in chemistry(somethingto do with nasty names I don't remember), what I feel is you shouldn't worry much about the syllabus.
And most important, yes, they are my marks in mains, sorry for late reply :(

Your friend attempted the 12 extra qs, ryt? How much did he/she score? Also, can you find out whether the computer displayed that your friend had attempted 150 questions only? Or did it also include the extra questions that your friend had attempted? I attempted 150 and 6 more from the 12, and this was what it showed me in the end:
Attempted: 150 Incorrect: 12 Marks:402
I did not realize it then.. but I'm worried now... I think I should have gotten more...

He got 312 marks. I saw him after months, he was my classmate actually, there is no way I can contact him since he is not giving advanced so he won't come to class and I dont have him contact number sorry :( I m sure any of friend much have taken those 12 problems you can ask them about it.

I'am too weak in english although ... So should I guess answer in it , for attempting those extra 12 questions ? I'am confident for P, C , M to get almost full (if don't do careless mistakes) , but scared from english and those cluless problems ...
Also what time duration does each section takes you in exam ? Please tell , so that I can mentally prepare myself , thanks a lot .. @Krishna Sharma

As I said I don't remember the problems but I m sure that they were not from the NCERT.
Before guessing you should see how many problem you have attempted, and do calculation accordingly(to attempt or not).
You will be left with ample time in the end, I was left with 50min after attempting the paper then I gone through the marked problems which took about 20-25 min. So no need to worry about the time.

So I had given My Exam ! I got 408 , Paper was really easy , But English was too tough . I didn't attempt 8 question's in englishhhh and 2 question in LR (digram problems), they gone completely over to my head . But I'am happy by my accuracy as I did only 3 problems incorrect (which was also I guess are from chemistry) . But really I dissappointed that English put me down , otherwise I can score better .. Anyway I will fullfill rest in JEE

please tell us about the question paper. were questions numerical or conceptual( asked in more numbers)? overall difficulty level of paper? time management ? about chemistry section - organic or physical ( tougher, more in number , difficulty, etc)?

Overall paper was easy , Bitsat paper was always easy , but the thing is you need to care of your stupid mistakes , like as not reading whole question completly , calc. mistake , overall you can say paper is " Farji " . If you were good in English and LR then you can really score very high ... And In my paper some organic question was tricky ... but most of question are named reaction which asked in indirect way .. There were more than 4 questions on solid state (str. of ZnS , NaCl , CaF2 etc...) From Biomolecules Vitamins section is covered ... Some question needs dirty calculation , for which better to not attempt in first time , leave them for later , as Time suffecient (if your English is good ) In physics there are many conceptual questions , NLM , waves play major role . Maths there were 4 or 5 seuence or series problem ... etc.
But overall paper was easy , Do not do it in rush , keep maintain your accuracy keeping time in mind . Don't try to attempt all questions in one go ... leave calc. question immedaitly for later (As I feel) ... Most important thing is to keep our emotions in control , this is very important for droppers , Since I'am also one of those ..

Here is what I think about the paper in the link you have posted:
Mathematics: some questions are way too easy in the link, I think BITSAT will be in the level of moderate level questions in the paper you have posted. Of course, there will be some extremely easy ones, but not many.
Physiscs: Seems to be okay. But keep in mind that you will get theory/understanding questions. The link had just one theory problem in physics.
Chemistry: Seems to be okay. Organic chemistry might be a bit more difficult though. Some really odd questions may come from the ncert text book, but there's nothing to do about those.
Logic: I don't think there is a level for this thing... Logic is logic.. I think you can do it easily.
English: I think the BITSAT English paper was tougher and more confusing. The words which were asked are not as common as those asked in the paper. The reading comprehension is confusing as more than one option will be correct and we have to chose the most appropriate one.

And no, I did not stay in a hostel for the past two years. But I attended FIITJEE's integrated programme in school which was hardly 500m from my house.

Are you a malayalee too? Brilliant pala is good, but it is more medicine/JEE main oriented. whereas fiitjee is more JEE advanced oriented. If you think you can handle board exams and JEE main on your own while preparing for JEE advance, then fiitjee is good. Otherwise, if you want to concentrate more on JEE main/KEAM(kerala engineering) then Brilliant pala is better. Of course, travel time and distance also play a major role.

Thanks! I am on my way home.. Train.. Awful internet connection... I tried posting a problem and it got deleted when the page refreshed :/. My friend also wrote the exam.. And both of us are of the opinion that the 12 extra qs may not be worth it. I had only 8 mins when i completed the first 150 and that too because i guesses 2-3 qs in englinsh and chem. The 12 extra qs are mostly jee adv level(phy and math). But i found some very simple cbse level chem and math qs that i was able to solve.. If u r planning to take the 12 qs.. Be sure you do well in the first 150 and also look through all 12 and attempt the easy ones. I will post some qs if i get time after going home.. Maybe after jee adv.. U guys hav it on 27 i guess. Please ask your friends who have taken the +12 qs if the final page showed that they attempted more than 150... Cuz mine didnt and i think something's fishy.. Thanks again!
