Hi Brilliant!
Recently Brilliant Integration Contest- Season 2 was conducted. Totally 50 problems were shared and some problems got more than 1 solutions. Now on consultation with some participants I decide to end the contest.
I'm extremely happy about the performance by the participants. Everyone enjoyed participating in the contest.
Results:
All those who participated in the contest won :)
Special Thanks to Pi Han Goh. Without him the contest wouldn't have run so smoothly. He had moderated the contest from start to end. In my opinion he's the best moderator.
Now those who couldn't take part in the contest don't get disheartened. There's going to be a Season 3 next year. So prepare yourselves for it.
Those who have any doubt in any solution in the contest may comment under the solution in the contest.
If anyone has an alternative solution to any problem in the contest he/she is welcome to post the solution mentioning "Alternate Solution to Problem (Problem Number)" under that problem.

Thanks!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Who here would be interested in an infinite series contest?

I'm with you ;)
Me!! Keep it in April or so. Let people get time to prepare :)
My views: I really enjoyed reading the solution to problem 44. According to me that was the most elegant solution of the contest. I feel the question that raised the standards of the contest was problem 7. I would like to personally congratulate/thank @Surya Prakash because he had provided most number of solutions in the contest(I enjoyed reading all). This contest has really improved my skills. The most comical part of the contest was Surya having posted so many awesome solutions that he had run out of problems. And yeah this year's contest surpassed last year's number of problems. That's a great thing. I wish @Kartik Sharma, @Parth Lohomi, @Kazem Sepehrinia had participated, then the contest would have been even more amazing.
It would've been even more fun if @Calvin Lin, @Andrew Ellinor, @Eli Ross and all the staff members of Brilliant had participated.
I'm happy that the competition ran so smoothly! Here are some of my personal comments:
The best solution (no doubt) came from Ronak in Solution 44 because there is no fancy techniques involved. You just require pure perseverance to solve it.
The best alternative solution I've seen is by Julian in Solution 41. What I did was a standard approach, but Julian took advantage of the fact that the integrand is a one-to-one continuous function, and direct use of one of the formulas here easily solved the problem.
The neatest solution I've seen came from Surya Prakesh in Solution 19. Very nicely written. That's how you should write a solution guys!!
There are some solutions that are slightly incomplete. For example, the first line in solution 12 is unjustified and we haven't proved that the limit in solution 46 exists. I hope someone can enlighten us with these issues.
Most of the problems in the competition can be easily solved by "Differentiate through the Integral". It could be interesting to see how to approach these problems if we forbid this technique for the next competition! Haha
I find that some of the problems here to be a little too hard. And some uses concepts that are slightly difficult to comprehend like Ramanujan Master Theorem, Laplace Trasform, and Fourier series. Don't you think it's time to write up wikis to explain all these in a clear manner, guys?

Yeah please write wikis on these concepts, Thanks!
It is really an awesome contest. And all of us enjoyed it. But it is sad that the contest ended too early. Thanks to everyone who made this contest a wonderful experience to me.
I'll be posting the topics for Season 3 after 22 May 2016.

I think it would be nice if we conduct twice in a year(for every six months) rather than once in a year.

We shall even make the contest some more interesting.
Twice in a year would make it boring. Once in a year gives people enough time to prepare themselves.
Can I conduct season 3 in Feb ?
No bro. Let the season be once in a year. Let people get some time to prepare themselves. Also February is the time of exams in India. So there will be very less participation. U may take part next year and conduct season 4 once u get used to the high quality solutions. I don't doubt your abilities. But u r too young to handle such stuff. Participate actively in season 3 and get used to all types of participation.

Thanks for the advice I'll surely follow it.Great! I would have learnt some calculus by then :)

Waiting for a geometrulus problem.
@Calvin Lin, @Andrew Ellinor, @Eli Ross would u mind giving a feedback so that I could improve the contest next year :)
