  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

  1. I thought trigonometry is subtopic of geometry.
  2. It's already there. The leaderboard is based on solving streak and point earned. If you mean like the old days then it probably can't, since the layout is totally different with what brilliant used to be (weekly problemset).
  3. This is what on my mind. I thought the reason why brilliant delete points exchange section is because people only focused on the prize so much rather than learn how to solve problem. From what I see before the points exchange disappear, many people discuss the problem outside brilliant and that's not how brilliant works! After the exchange points disappear, brilliant become "less cheating" and 'more discussing" because there is no reason to do the cheating anymore. Although sometimes I miss the old days when we get weekly problemset because currently when I'm gonna solve problem, I feel like less motivated. I remember I was study like crazy, read many books, go to library, just to solve one brilliant problem. But above from what I've said, I owe many thanks to brilliant. Oh yeah, you also can get prize if you win competition that brilliant held.

Agree with bringing back the trig. section ...

Saloni Gupta - 7 years, 4 months ago

Could we have proper Chemistry and Biology sections?

Sebastian Wright - 7 years, 4 months ago

Not Biology please

Anish Puthuraya - 7 years, 4 months ago

In favour of chemistry

Omkar Pande - 7 years, 3 months ago

Biology ca,t have numericals

Anubhav Singh - 7 years, 4 months ago

Yea. Even a proper quantum physics section.

Aryan Gaikwad - 7 years, 3 months ago

  1. There are now Chemistry and Biology topics on Brilliant. Check out the problem creation interface. We will discuss adding trig as a topic there as well.
  2. Different leaderboards is an interesting idea.
  3. Don't hold your breath for the points exchange.

I think if there is no leaderboard than u should display world rank and rank percentile of every user

Anubhav Singh - 7 years, 3 months ago

Be patient, I've finally received it after 8 months.

Fariz Azmi Pratama - 7 years, 3 months ago

Don't worry it will eventually arrive, mine took a bit long too...

Xuming Liang - 7 years, 3 months ago

Can we please have a mental ability section also!

jushaan kalra - 7 years, 3 months ago

  1. You can find trig problems in the geometry section.
  2. I don't see a reason for the leaderboard since the problems are no longer being given to us in a weekly manner...
  3. I really doubt that they will bring back the points exchange section since it's been so easy for people to obtain a lot of points.

I'm not sure what point exchange and leaderboard were like, so I can't say anything. :-0 Sorry. x'D

Vishnuram Leonardodavinci - 7 years, 4 months ago

I'd like to see the leaderboard have things like "Most Followers", "Most Solved", etc.

Finn Hulse - 7 years, 4 months ago

Oh! yes, I also like to see that!

Prasad Nikam - 7 years, 3 months ago

Trig, bio, chem, sounds great! I'll be glad to help with any of those. ^^

Vishnuram Leonardodavinci - 7 years, 4 months ago

Yes, bring back Trigo, and create Chemistry officially with ratings. And it would be really nice if there is a way we can get prizes and tshirts again.

Tong Choo - 7 years, 3 months ago

I want the point exchange back too!

Kevin Mo - 7 years, 3 months ago

  1. I would request Brilliant to keep a section of PHYSICS rather than electricity and magnetism and let Mechanics be a separate topic.
  2. Otherwise bring topics on CLASSICAL MECHANICS and QUANTUM MECHANICS.

glen fernandes - 7 years, 3 months ago

can we have chemistry too please

Nayonika Mitra - 7 years, 3 months ago

There is a lot of chemistry problems, and more every day! Use the search bar at the top of the screen.

Silas Hundt Staff - 7 years, 3 months ago

hmm..i think no leaderboard,please

Tootie Frootie - 7 years, 3 months ago

The leaderboard would be nice.
