This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Calvin Lin too bad... People actually collected points to get those. What is the use of points now?

Aditya Jain - 5 years, 8 months ago

@Aditya Jain exactly the reason why I left brilliant No prize reduces the excitement of solving problems

@Amitesh Rathi duniya sudharti hai samay ke sath.. brilliant kharab ho gaya samay ke sath..

@Amitesh Rathi Points are a measure of your activity.

If a monetary reward is the only reason for you to solve problems, then we do not have the resources to pay everyone to do math. If you are curious in exploring the wonders of math and science, or want to improve your problem solving skills (for your own good), then I can work with you on it.

@Calvin Lin Honestly, YES... T-shirts were inspiring... and nothing else (even our curiosity) can't motivate us more. Think about this: Set a minimum point limit say 50k. When someone reaches that "únlock" a gift (eg. T-shirt), which we will get on "paying" for it. This way brilliant won't have to worry about resources.

@Aditya Jain So, to clarify, you are willing to pay (say) 2500 Rupees to receive the T-shirt?

Calvin Lin Staff - 5 years, 8 months ago

@Calvin Lin willing to pay Rs 800.

Aditya Jain - 5 years, 8 months ago

@Aditya Jain Thanks for that info.

@Calvin Lin do think on this.

Aditya Jain - 5 years, 8 months ago

@Aditya Jain Currently, there is no way for us to supply T-shirts at Rs 800. The price would have to be closer to Rs 2500, in order for us to consider doing this.

Is there a way to buy Brilliant.org t-shirts? I usually hate advertising, but would love to be a walking advertisement for quality education.
