this note is purely to conduct research whether there truly is a bug in the save and ping system

theory: if you put a comment in somebody's note you will receive pings from it whether you have saved it or not we believe this might be a bug and will forward our findings to Brilliant mathematics once done.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.

other findings findings: if a post is deleted then the replies are still there, but invisible and cannot be deleted. -> so they still get pinged even if they deleted all their other posts this is also basicly experiment 4

IMPORTANT AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED: possible fix is to make the system fully wipe the replies to the deleted comment because even though to the user it is cleared the message is still marked thare which makes the user continue to receive pings

experiment 5: nscs i will not use the @ now. but u can make a post and leave it here until i did another post. then u delete your post and i do another post. (i will do all posts without mentioning you)-Num Po

POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT SUGGESTION FOR BRILLIANT: when a note or comment is deleted please terminate all comments there as well and stop users from stil posting there because otherwise for other users it is annoying to be pinged for something that has been deleted as others continue to comment there because they still have access to it

i am curious: have you done some changes already?
if a comment is deleted now, then i can still see the answers to that post.
but some days ago that was not possible.

@Num Ic – Not that I'm aware of, no. There might be other engineers playing around with this system but they have not updated me with anything substantial.

so l assumed a staff member had recognized our tests and adujusted the system.
is there a description what effect "unsubscribe" from a question should have?
