BRILLIAthon 22!

Hi, guys

Long time no see! (Seriously...)

So I've decided to host a new BRILLIAthon.

But... I need participants and (new) 22 co-hosts!

The reason why I need 22 co-hosts is because I am doing Year 1111, so I am going to be on BRILLIANT even less.

So I request the following to step up (I will be doing a DBS check on your profile, Frisk, if you come up!):

David Vreken

Frisk Dreemurr

Siddharth Chakravarty

Criteria for co-host:

You must be on BRILLIANT from 8:008:00 am until 3:153:15pm.

You must create one question for me to review.

You must set the competition dates.

As for participants, maximum is 6 as I can't take the burden of more than that.

After the 11st problem, lowest will be removed

After the 33rd problem, last and second-to-last will be removed.

Same points as last BRILLIAthon (with a twist...):

LaTEX - 2020 pts

Intelligible Solutions - 1010 pts

Algorithmic Structure - 88 pts

Pictures/Animations - 22 pts (optional)

Dates are to be chosen by the co-host as I am focusing on my studies.

Deadlines:

Participants: Saturday 1414th November, 5:005:00pm

Co-Host: Sunday 1515th November, 1:301:30pm

Good luck and enjoy!

P.S. Extra 55 marks added to Algorithmic Structure as I need to see every single step (even if it's minor...)

Also, winner becomes co-host for next one! (Includes this one as well (David Vreken), but Siddharth Chakravarty accepted as well to fill the number of co-hosts)

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Sorry, I'm back teaching classes so I don't think I will have time to participate. Thanks for thinking about me, though!

You don't need to participate - the winner of the BRILLIAthon is the co-host for the next one!

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Umm, I am okay to co-host, even I don't have much time to write solutions, I could make questions and arrange some time for this.

Siddharth Chakravarty - 7 months ago

You need to arrange the dates and post one question for me to review.

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Could you tell me how hard should the question be, or based on what topics?

Siddharth Chakravarty - 7 months ago

@Siddharth Chakravarty Think of the question as an entrance exam, but not too hard such that I don't have an inkling about what's going on.

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Frisk is the first participant!

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Anybody else participating?

No - the co-hosts needs to be around during these hours!

You have until 5:305:30pm to publish solutions, because I'm around then from 3:303:30pm till 5:305:30pm!

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Update: All the solutions to the problems must be posted before 5:305:30pm (during the dates the co-hosts set...)

@Nscs 747 Shall I put time zones doesn't matter?

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

What about this idea? Give eighteen hours for early posting, as 55 points

After that time duration, give 00 points for time

Max. points obtainable for early submission is 55 points, and duration is eighteen hours

Therefore, no one can complain for the difference of time zones :)

@Frisk Dreemurr Tsk, tsk, tsk...your human is showing Frisk. Better toughen up lmao

@A Former Brilliant Member What\colorbox{#FFFFFF}{\color{#FFFFFF}\text{What}} you expect me to do lol, become inhuman? Even Frisk has feelings, you know...?

In fact, I'd rather not talk about Frisk, you may know why

Frisk Dreemurr - 7 months ago

@Frisk Dreemurr Sure, sure, whatever helps you sleep. No, I do not know why...at least I don't seem to at the moment. Anyway, read up some PJO/HOO fanfics on Wattpad. There are some awesome 'Percy Jackson Betrayed' stories, where after the war, Percy is abandoned by the camp, and Chaos(creator of universe) finds him and lets him join the Army of Chaos, and Percy becomes a cold-hearted assassin who kills immortal monsters and wins wars single-handedly. He also becomes really OP(over-powered)!!! I love those fanfics, you should really read them.

Common sensical idea. Sleep and Brilliant get their times. I'm in if there's place for another contestant @Yajat Shamji :)

@A Former Brilliant Member lol there must be someone to say this idea tho, whether common sense or not :)

Nice, but isn't Submission and Posting time the same?

You can call it whatever you want - it's 5:005:00pm.

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

I meant 5:305:30pm.

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Update: As of now, problem submission is 5:305:30pm regardless of time zones!

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Ok, I can live with that. Thx

No problem!

Also, check the UKMT Specials note - I've made an important update regarding time of solutions etc.

Yajat Shamji - 7 months ago

Guys, since nothing's happening, I'll post the first BRILLIAthon 2 problem!
