This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

I wouldn't say it was hard, (as most people are complaining on the cbse website), but without a doubt lengthy. I had left some questions which I hadn't seen before for the end, so that I wouldn't waste time thinking about it. The one hour left bell rang when I had about 8 large questions left so, I had to rush everything. Messed up two questions worth totally ten marks and I'm not sure if the other final answers are right as I didn't get time to recheck the paper. Did manage to scribble together atleast something for each question. So hopefully some marks for attempting.
Do not worry my comrades. My big bro gave his board examinations last year. He shared his experience of his friends who did not attempt the paper worth 13-15 marks and yet scored 90+ (ya that's true. Believe me!!)
So just cheer up, JEE is on all the best for its preparations ⌣¨
While solving a limit problem (continuity and differentiability) I applied le hopital's rule which is not taught in cbse math. My colleagues struggle with It , and they were not familiar with the rule. Will cbse give marks for the rule I applied to solve it.
Mine was outside Delhi. One of my friends(not a JEE aspirant) in Delhi told that the paper was tough not lengthy. So that won't matter much for JEE aspirants like you.
I left around 20 marks. Ya it was lengthy. Some other factors also affected my paper. Overall , I found it a bit lengthy. Let's hope that cbse understand and we get some grace marks. I am highly depressed. :(
Hmm. Now it decreased my interest in maths. I feel like i am not suitable for maths if i couldn't solve the paper. :'( Really feeling bad. Physics had already gone bad. I had no hope for chemistry. I had all the hope with maths but it also made me sad. Now i can expect a percentage of 85 - 90. :(

Don't lose hope.. If you are good at maths it will surely help you in JEE Adv. which is the most important exam in coming months... Although I finished my maths paper in last seconds but in rest of the subjects my situation is same as you.. And these boards surely gonna spoil my JEE Mains Rank too ... :-(

Brother marks doesn't determine one's ability to achieve something. Eg. Michael Jordan was not selected in his school basketball team. Didn't he succeed? That's the similar case with us. Talking about IIT-JEE, you just need 75% to get into IIT. So work hard for JEE-Adv.

Hmm. Now i feel less depressed coz " A single piece of paper can't determine my future ". :) Let's work for JEE. Thanks for motivating me.
I had solved previous year paper and it took around 2 hrs 35 min. This year paper was quite lengthy. '15 was tricky and fun to solve but '16 was boring and lengthy.
Paper was very lengthy although i attempted whole paper. No time was left for revision and i m quite confident with my methods but only god knows about calculations. That probability distr. ques beated the hell out of me.
It last 45 min It was looking impossible to attempt all the paper (reflecting lengthiness of paper) but I managed to do it and expecting 90+ marks .(ANY 100/100 here)
There is not a single sec left for revision of paper . I am not good at binary operation and LPP both together suck my 10 marks (I hope I am only person whose was unable to solve these two) , but about rest of paper I am confident . If anyone have answers key , please tell me .(Outside Delhi)
See it depends on your preferences. Since you live in Maharashtra I recommend you to join CBSE as Mahrashtra HSC sucks. Their physics paper was pathetic. No action is being taken over that. But for us in CBSE there are wide range of discussions over this issue. So that's a boon.

Surely true! CBSE people are strange... Those who left got 90+ and those who did whole didn't get 100!!!
While solving a limit problem (continuity and differentiability) I applied le hopital's rule which is not taught in cbse math. My colleagues struggle with It , and they were not familiar with the rule. Will cbse give marks for the rule I applied to solve it.

I don't think so. You could've done it like this:
x→0limx3tanx−sinx=x→0limtanx(x31−cosx)=x→0limtanx(x32sin2(2x))=21
You are likely not to be awarded any marks for it. CBSE marking scheme doesn't "recognize" this method, and shall be treated as wrong.
@Abhineet Nayyar @Gautam Sharma @Mayank Singh @Sachin Vishwakarma please comment.
Outside delhi or inside delhi??
Me inside
I didn't find it lenghty

But for jee aspirants too.. there was no time to think as paper was lengthy.

It was quite fair paper.. Just had to think twice before scaling the lpp graph. (outside delhi)
Yeah the paper was too lengthy ... I finished it in last second :-).. (Outside Delhi)

Brother CBSE people aren't good people. They don't have any feelings. Don't expect grace marks.

YesAgreed, @Aditya Kumar I do look like a 65 year old, but i am not :3
Grace marks are given in such cases. Trust me.
Been there, (was) given that ;)
I couldn't complete the Area problem and had no time to revise.
I have seen people telling that it was '15 like. Is that true?

My friends who had solved last year's papers told that this year it was tougher.
I am also feeling bad. I wasn't able to attempt 16 marks paper. Cbse has gone mad.
I also feel that paper was tricky.

I found paper very boring. I was feeling sleepy during the examination which lost me 12 marks.

I knew how to do the but time was the biggest problem.
Delhi paper didn't seem to be lengthy or tricky. But I did a silly mistake of a "-" sign! no idea how many marks mad CBSE people would cut for it!
It last 45 min It was looking impossible to attempt all the paper (reflecting lengthiness of paper) but I managed to do it and expecting 90+ marks .(ANY 100/100 here)

Now it's time for JEE MAINS-2016 final revision
@Aditya Kumar Which board should I keep for 11th ? CBSC , ICSC or state board ? Currently I am in CBSE board appearing for 10th boards.
