Commenting Etiquette?

I recently posted my first feedback on a wiki page, a question about one of the steps in an example on the page. I received a reply fairly quickly; I posted a comment to the reply thanking the responder, but also bringing up what I felt was a legitimate issue with his solution. He immediately asked me to delete my reply, but would not tell me why and has not communicated since. My intent with the comment was not in any way to criticize the person who replied, I was just hoping that someone would post alternate solutions (which hasn't happened.)

I am wondering whether my post was in some way inappropriate; I have scoured the site but not found any guidelines on posting feedback / comments. I visit this site for one purpose only, to learn from all the contributors here. The last thing I want to do is antagonize anyone, especially someone who took the time to reply. Yes, I was bringing up a problem I had with the response, but I thought I was doing it in a respectful manner. Of course it's possible the person who replied simply lost interest in the discussion.

I would appreciate it if some of you could take a quick look at the comments; they're part of the more recent of two feedbacks on the Wiki page "Cardano's Method". Please let me know if I broke any rules, even unwritten ones; I'd like to post more questions & comments but without annoying anyone else.
