Following is why I think the recent changes are not a good thing:
Instead of seeing a fixed number of problems each week, people now have to wade through tens of posts EVERY DAY so find problems they like
Instead of really chewing down on a difficult problem because you only get a fixed amount and only get a week to solve them, people now sort through the problems and pick the ones they like. Hard problems will be given up on much faster now.
I've been a member since august and I've been working diligently those past four months to earn enough points to claim a book (with long term goal of boths books and the t-shirt). After four months I had enough points for one book, only to see that all points are now gone. Simply gone. No warning, just gone. Can you imagine how that feels like a slap in the face? I'm certain I'm not the only one that was saving up for a nice prize!
For me, my two main reasons to come to this site are gone: - No more cool prizes to earn (which was the reason I went to this site in the first place). - No more challenge of solving a fixed set of problems in a fixed amount of time. The sense of a 'challenge' between users is now gone (which was the reason I got hooked on this site).
With a slap in the face, no more rewards and no more challenge, what is the defining factor for this site, in comparison to other math-problem sites?
With a slap in the face, rewards gone and the fun of a challange gone, what reason do I still have to spend a big part of my free time here?
I hope I get my point across, despite my frustration and disappointment. I loved Brilliant the way it was, but all the things I loved have been removed.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.
