Contributing to Physics Section on Brilliant

Hello People.

I am writing this note to throw light on a serious problem prevailing in this particular community. Physics section is given almost no importance on Brilliant. Many of the wikis are incomplete and contribution rate to the very section is lower in comparison to that of Mathematics. I am ecstatic to view the community vigorously contributing to the Mathematics section, but a relative ignorance to the Physics section is a matter of dismay. As a result, I'm here to shed light on some cool Physics related stuff which the community forgot to use. Please have a look on the following.

  • The NSEP Board is something Rajdeep had released on the community, during the time of our exams, in order to have an early start. This feature was essentially ignored. Please give this as equal response as The RMO Board.

  • The Meddling with Mechanics Problems Contest is a recent start by Harsh. The contest has been from three days, but has only seven problems. Please go and join now!

  • The Thermodynamics section is kind of dead. The content is highly lacking. I know writing is not that easy, so please post at least post some problems on the community, so that the fellow Brilliantians can solve 'em up.

  • The Quantum Mechanics section should essentially emerge as an individual subtopic in Physics. It is not Classical, it is Quantum!

And many others ......

So please do give equal importance to the Physics section. I, along with all of my friends are looking forward for your participation and contribution in the above mentioned. Let us reawaken the Physicist inside us, and start contributing right now.

Read Physics, Do Physics, it is the master of us all.

Best,

Swapnil Das

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Most of the brilliant community likes math more than physics. We can't force people to do physics though, but still we can motivate them :)

I loveeeeeeee physics!!!

Ashish Menon - 5 years ago

Exactly. We have more math-inclined people in the community. This note was just to motivate them. Thanks for commenting :)

Swapnil Das - 5 years ago

not necessarily some are a bit more biology inclined(i.e. me), still i love doing math too.

agree to you very much on the fourth point. #Quantum Mechanics

Actually , Math is involved in every node of the branch of science. Chemistry tells us about 'how' atoms , Physics tells us 'why' atoms but Math doesn't tell instead it poses calculations that make a atom. Love Science.

Aniruddha Bagchi - 5 years ago

So goes a saying, Physics is the king of science while mathematics is its queen.

Ashish Menon - 5 years ago

Once physics and maths had a fight. So both of them stayed away from each other. But after a few nanoseconds! Maths cried:- I cant live without you physics. Similarly physics cried :- I cant live without you maths. So they both turned towards each other and became best friends for ever! Cheers!

Ashish Menon - 5 years ago

I completely agree! PHYSICS makes us feel more lively, remember who we are , The world is unimaginable without physics !! Even the greatest mathematicians like SIR ISSAC NEWTON & CARL FRIEDRICH GAUSS loved physics & contributed to it !! I love physics , & a big thanks to swapnil das & others for creating & Contributing to - this very essential note!!

You are most welcome. Happy to gain your response.

I think physics should be give importance.Maths do great things, but physics do things greatly.

@Swapnil Das I will surely contribute for physics section ... As I said I'm becoming a physics nerd these days ... I can add examples to wiki's as I am solving a lot problems :)

Thanks. Nice to hear that :)

Swapnil Das - 5 years ago

@Swapnil Das Relativity section should be added. What are your views?

Prakash Chandra Rai - 5 years ago

I agree. But many of our friends do not understand relativity.

Swapnil Das - 5 years ago

Well, we will make them understand.

Prakash Chandra Rai - 5 years ago

@Prakash Chandra Rai Right:)

Rishabh Tiwari - 5 years ago

I agree , relativity must be added & Modern physics section must be expanded , More wikis , more problems , more notes, & more suggestions from experts will help a lot to all who know little about this topic.

Rishabh Tiwari - 5 years ago

Mathematics is greater than physics. Imagine physics without calculus trignometry and algebra. Although physics only has inspired us to create calculus.

Satvik Choudhary - 5 years ago

What use of mathematics if we cant apply it into daily life which is possible only with the help of physics.

Ashish Menon - 5 years ago

Agreed.

Swapnil Das - 5 years ago

Very correct indeed!

Rishabh Tiwari - 5 years ago

Ohk. You are even applying force to type the word Mathematics :P
