You all have often requested the ability to set the number of MCQ options. You want to post "True/False" questions without having dummy options like "Do not click this". We have heard the voices and been plotting to silence you all by... doing just that!
Now, when you post a multiple choice question, you will start with a default of 4 options.
You can choose to reduce the number of options (minimum of 2), by selecting the grey cancel button.
You can also choose to increase the number of options (maximum of 8), by selecting "Add an option".
As usual, the first option will always be the correct answer, so if you delete that option, the second option will move up and become the new correct answer. (You probably don't want to do this...) Finally, note that all of your choices have to be filled out in order to preview the problem. Please remove empty fields that you do not want.
Enjoy!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Isn't it a nice idea to have multiple answers correct? Like JEE style. I always do them wrong. For example, lets take a question.
Q. Which of the following numbers are prime?
2
3
6
9
Now if someone has marked an extra option or missed a correct one, it would be wrong otherwise correct.

Same here!
Yes it is a nice idea.
So like a checkbox instead of a radio field.
Nice! Does the choices appear randomly, i.e. it would not appear in the same order for everyone? I haven't tried MC questions but definitely will with this new option!

Yes, for simplicity, we decided that multiple choice questions will always randomly display the options. We have considered allowing for the ability to fix the options, but then that started getting complicated to place on the creation screen. If there is a need for fixing options, then we will look into it further. For now, we feel that it does not hinder the publishing of problems.
Staff members do have the ability to fix the order of their questions, like in the SAT section. In this scenario, it made sense for the options A,B,C,D,E to always appear in sequence, just like they would on the SAT.
Thank you, I might test this out.
@Calvin Lin Are we allowed the change the number of options of an existing problem?

No. As a problem creator, if you want to change the number of options, or change the options, you should report the problem and let me know what to change. This is similar to having a wrong answer, where you should report the question and state the answer.
Thanks a lot! I just created my first Don't Think Carefully

I plan to create a series like this :P, based on various topics. For now, try this :- Dont think carefully part-2
Nice idea! I had been waiting for this.
