Curriculum Math-Fantastic step by Brilliant

I just love this new system and problems of this curriculum math in brilliant.i just request the brilliant staffs to continue this permanently.like this more topics should be added.it will be of great use to the brilliant users in lower level to build their skills and raise to next level.....

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Update:

We have just changed it such that both algebra/trigonometry and calculus are accesible to users of all levels.

sir, that's awesome.kindly introduce such things in physics also....

Pradeep Ravichandran - 8 years, 3 months ago

i agree with u but many of us would be happy to see similar steps being introduced in physics

Vasanth Balakrishnan - 8 years, 3 months ago

ya! many users including me find it difficult to do even lower level problems in physics.if they start "curriculum physics" as u said that wil be awesome!!! thanks for ur suggestion....

How does your profile have Level 5 Algebra and Trigonometry? How do I get such questions?

Rohan Rao - 8 years, 3 months ago

@Rohan Rao i have already replied for it in discussion"algebra and trigonometry"

@Pradeep Ravichandran Pradeep, you go to IMO???!

Alan Liang - 8 years, 3 months ago

@Alan Liang Not the real IMO, this one is organised by a private company SOF. U can visit at www.sofworld.org

patel kishan - 8 years, 3 months ago

@Patel Kishan yeah!

Pradeep Ravichandran - 8 years, 3 months ago

we definitely need more than four problems a week in physics

Ashwin Venkatraman - 8 years, 3 months ago

that's true.

PRADEEP RAVICHANDRAN - 8 years, 3 months ago

in physics problems, long long stories have been given.so i request physics master to make the problem readable,(i.e) to make short and apt.

suresh muthuraman - 8 years, 3 months ago

@Suresh Muthuraman The point is to encourage you to use reason to understand the structure of the problem. Short, "to the point" problems just test your knowledge of finding an appropriate formula.

o b - 8 years, 3 months ago

@O B iam saying that problems like that in prob in general physics by I.E.Irodov could be asked which are more interesting and brain teasing. but probs here are so boring to read fully and solve it.(iam not saying all the problems are like this).

suresh muthuraman - 8 years, 3 months ago

i agree as physics has only one section

divyashish choudhary - 8 years, 3 months ago

i find physics a lot easier than math. i started level 2 on physics, now im level 5. i started level 3 and 2 on algebra and geometry, respectively, now im stuck at level 3 on both. and i just started with level 4 on calculus. EDIT: great ive been leveled down (5 -> 4) in physics.

Ramon Vicente Marquez - 8 years, 3 months ago

I believe that brilliant's staff should introduce light and optics in the physics section. It would be great for people who love physics.

Varun Tandon - 8 years, 3 months ago

that wud be really good. Even a section on heat, thermodynamics and waves would not be bad either.

Pravin Venkatraman - 8 years, 3 months ago

really really should not tell but i can solve them a little...good query varun t.15,thank you sir

Chitres Guria - 8 years, 3 months ago

Please increase level of algebra and trignometry .

Shivang Jindal - 8 years, 3 months ago

yeah coz thats too easyy we can solve all of them in just a few minutes

Akbarali Surani - 8 years, 3 months ago

Not only the level but also the points related with them!!!!!!

Dishant Shah - 8 years, 3 months ago

why am i not getting trigonometry???

John cyril Claur - 8 years, 3 months ago

I welcome the calculus section, however the points earned by those sections are too low. For instance I'm in level and yet earn around 40 points for a mid level sum.

Dipak Narayan - 8 years, 3 months ago

Yes keep in mind though these are curriculum problems and should be easier than the normal brilliant problems

Alan Liang - 8 years, 3 months ago

please do d same for physics olso....

komal gupta - 8 years, 3 months ago

Not sure if I understand it right but is curriculum maths related to what is taught in high school?

Pranav Arora - 8 years, 3 months ago

Yes, that is the intention. The problems and their creation are still a work in progress. There is great diversity in the world of how algebra/trig and calculus are taught in high schools so we do not presume to mimic everyones curriculum. Our "olympiad" math problems have always been designed to be harder and more interesting than what most people are exposed to in school. We received lots of feedback saying there was a desire for brilliant to offer practice problems more similar to what is found in school, so we made curriculum math.

Thanks Peter.

Pranav Arora - 8 years, 3 months ago

Awesome.

Jia Zheng Chai - 8 years, 3 months ago

I request for more difficult problems in curriculum math, since I believe what is not asked in olympiads is also of equal importance. This is because I was given a level 5 in 'Algebra and Trigonometry', whose problems I easily solved, whereas I am still unable to complete the problems of level 3 in 'Algebra and Number Theory'

me too!

Wilson Ly - 8 years, 3 months ago

I fully agree with you, Pradeep Cham. You are right, increasing your level on Brilliant will get Hot Problems and Skills. Thanks for Brilliant Team too, I just know Calculus on new Topic.. I support you all, Brilliant Team :))

Andrias Meisyal - 8 years, 3 months ago

why am i not getting trigonometry in this section?

John cyril Claur - 8 years, 3 months ago

John,

We currently only have algebra and trigonometry available to levels 1 and 2 in Algebra and Number Theory. Calculus is available to levels 3-5 in algebra and number theory.

Peter Taylor Staff - 8 years, 3 months ago

I made a mistake in that comment. Calculus is available to all levels, algebra and trig is only available to levels 1-2.

@Peter Taylor Oops! See my announcement at the top of the thread.

Peter Taylor Staff - 8 years, 3 months ago

Its a Great Move.

Parag Mundhada - 8 years, 3 months ago

I too support the idea of introducing more topics and questions for physics. I access brilliant for physics because mathematics isn't my cup of tea and solving olympiad level questions in math is out of my reach. Only four questions for physics per week are less, IMO but the level of questions is good. :)

Pranav Arora - 8 years, 3 months ago

I agree! I love having the variety of topics available! Computer science/programming perhaps? :D

Jimmi Simpson - 8 years, 3 months ago

it is nice problem sets for us.

Attain k Gupta - 8 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, but pity my school hasn't started on calculus so I don't understand half of it yet.

Abhro Rahman - 8 years, 3 months ago

How come that I don't have calculus and trigonometry where in fact in the in the past few weeks it's there in my problem sets.

John Errol Obia - 8 years, 2 months ago

Hi John,

Please see this thread here. Calculus and trigonometry will be back in another week or so after we reinvent them to handle more problems in a better format. Stay tuned.
