This month, I can't resist myself to sing along the beautiful song - It's the most wonderful time of the year.

In the beginning of every month we, the moderators, come up with this newsletter to update the community about the highlights of the past month to assure you don't miss the new exciting features, enchanting problems & posts and to introduce you to the engaging members of the community helping it build through their valuable contributions. Have fun going through this newsletter and don't forget to leave your words in the comment box.

NEW   FEATURES   TO   BE   EXCITED   ABOUT\large \mathbf{ NEW} \ \ \ \mathbf{ FEATURES } \ \ \ \mathbf{ TO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ BE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ EXCITED } \ \ \ \mathbf{ ABOUT }

The Brilliant community is going through awe-inspiring growth. Every time I met such new features on Brilliant, they sounded more astounding. Are you excited to know about those spotlights? Okay, here we go:

1.Cover Images for Chapters

Each chapter has been beautified with pretty images which intend to describe what's included in it. I'm pretty sure you would love all the coverings. You can cherish them all into the community and here as representatives I've a few of them:

\quad \quad \quad \quad \quad

2.Concept quizzes and Challenge quizzes

When you click on button in the chapters, you will get the concept quizzes created by the Brilliant staff and the challenge quizzes concluding problems by the community members like you. The quizzes look like:

\quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad

3.Problems suggesting a wiki/concept quiz/challenge quiz

A greater number of problems have been linked to the related wikis. If you feel the need to learn/upgrade the concepts before hitting any problem, then you can go the wiki, learn the concepts and thump the problem back. To execute this click on the button located at the right side of the problem.

If you need more practice to boost up your problem solving skills, then you can find the related problems in the quizzes which look like:

\quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad

FASCINATING   AND   INTRIGUING   PROBLEMS \large \mathbf{ FASCINATING } \ \ \ \mathbf{ AND } \ \ \ \mathbf{ INTRIGUING } \ \ \ \mathbf{ PROBLEMS }

The following list of the problems will entertain you through out this journey. Make sure you too entertain the problems! Tight your seat belt, here we drive you to the problems:

  • The Amazing Race: A highly engaging real life problem determined to test your logical thinking.

  • It is obviously true, right?: It may seem obvious to you but make sure you give it a second thought.

  • The Unstated Rule of Logarithms: A basic property of logarithm appealing to wonder why is it rarely mentioned in logarithmic properties?

  • LCM Misconception: It will blow off the misconceptions if you had any about LCM.

  • Logical Solutions: A cool cryptogram problem assuming you learnt ABCs well in childhood days.

  • The odd theoretical ant: An ant wandering here and there in search of what? No one knows, Do you?

  • Fractal Orthogonal Circles: It can be presumed as the most difficult problem of the past month, double daring you!

    NEW   ACTIVE   MEMBERS\large \mathbf{ NEW} \ \ \ \mathbf{ ACTIVE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ MEMBERS }

Brilliant is growing day by day and everyone, contributing to Brilliant in any form, is creditable for its marvelous growth. In the past month, like every other months, we have found new friends who are developing their potential and will emerge as the super duper community members in the coming days. Here are those who recently joined us in the intellectual journey of Brilliant:

THE   POSTS   COMMUNITY   LOVED\large \mathbf{ THE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ POSTS } \ \ \ \mathbf{ COMMUNITY } \ \ \ \mathbf{ LOVED }

This section is about the posts which were highly appreciated by the whole community. Here is a fair opportunity for you to grab them:

1.RMO Practice Board

It is very exciting to have a practice board which targets excellence in RMO and consequently many other competitive exams. You can get post solutions to the problems in the comments, thereby enriching your skills and even have an opportunity to post your own problems and have fun discussing them. Here is the RMO Practice Board.

2.Featured Member - Xuming Liang

As an interesting fact, Brilliant is featuring different members of the community, so that you can get to know them better. For the twelfth issue, Xuming Liang has been featured. The most amusing fact about Xuming is that he recently published a paper in the International Journal of Geometry. To know more about him, land on Calvin's note: Featured member - Xuming Liang.

3.Brilliant Integration Contest - Season 2

The last year, Brilliant Integration Contest was conducted by Anastasiya Romanova. In the continuation of the same, Aditya Kumar organized its further sequel. The aims of the Integration contest are to improve skills in the computation of integrals, to learn from each other as much as possible, and of course to have fun. Everyone is invited to take part in the contest. Like many others, if you too want to get involved, then just hit the Brilliant Integration Contest - Season 2.

4.Singapore Mathematical Olympiad 2015

If you want to perceive the level of Singapore Mathematical Olympiad(SMO) 2015, Khang Nguyen Thanh has made a well off arrangement for you. Try his set SMO 2015 - Senior Section - Round 1 and have fun solving it.

WHO   TO   FOLLOW\large \mathbf{ WHO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ TO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ FOLLOW }

Here's the most awaited WhoToFollow list inferring the dazzling members of the community. I'm pleased to introduce you to the wonderful people who are always there to help and build the community. Here are the names, in no particular order:

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Thanks Nihar! :)

The presentation was much better earlier, but then I had to remove several latex and images for smooth loading of the page. Otherwise many people would jump out without even reading it.
