density function

in one of the problems in integration.the problem states something called as the density function at a given point in the triangle.

i just wanted to know what it physically signifies as the volume of a triangles in 0.does it denote mass per unit area in the triangle or does it have some other meaning.

p.s- please DONT post the any major thing that will help me in getting the answer .
