The distributive property is the rule that relates addition and multiplication. Specifically, it states that \( a (b+c) = ab + ac \).
For example: 36=3×(12)=3×(10+2)=3×10+3×2=30+6=36.
The distributive rule can also be applied to polynomials:
(a+b)(c+d)=(a+b)c+(a+b)d=ac+bc+ad+bd.
