EMERGENCY! Need awesome physics team names.

My group is registering for a physics quiz and we need a team name. All responses are welcome! Oh.. and please reshare! 2nd EDIT: Thanks for your ideas and opinions! We have chosen 'The Illuminati' - bringing enlightenment and promoting science and everything. It.. might sound a bit corny.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

How about The Kepler Hounds, Newton's Nyctophiliacs or The Anarchist Archemedians? These will scare the hell out of your opponents.

The basic form a good team name takes is "The A Bs" where A stands for a physics adjective, and B stands for a super wacky, random noun. Some example are:

  • The Perpetual Meatballs

  • The Electric Stools

  • The Ionized Bushes

And so on and so forth.

Finn Hulse - 6 years, 10 months ago

Woo ah i have one the "Maxwell's Demons" or "the ionizers"

Mardokay Mosazghi - 6 years, 10 months ago

Try "The Laplace Army." I used that team name for a Differential equations quiz. We were in the lead up to the final round, where we gambled all our points away.

Hi @Siddharth G . Could you please tell me which quiz this is? (Sorry, if this doesnt add on to this post's use)

It was for fun at the end of the year for my differential equations class. It is actually a quiz game, not a quiz.

Steven Zheng - 6 years, 10 months ago

It is actually an intra-school quiz for getting into the physics society.(DPS RK Puram)

Thanks for replying :)

I think you have named your team 'The Illuminati' instead of 'The Illumaniti'. Or is it one of your puns?

Srsly? Sometimes spelling errors are just that (or are they?)
