The counselling rounds have begun and many have aldready decided which engineering college to go. I am going to BITS Pilani for computer science. Where are u going? This post is just for us to know who else are coming to the same college.
This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Hi @Karthik Kannan !
I took the advanced this year and I would prefer IIT Bombay, though I haven't decided for sure that's the only place I'd go to. I'm open to going to delhi, kanpur, etc too. According to my expected rank, I should rule out CSE,EE, and Mech (in bombay) also but I think I might get aerospace, and its a stream I'm interested in too.
I would like your opinion on what I should give more weightage to- stream or place, because I could get the other streams in some other IITs. BITSAT also went well (got 394) so should I think of it as an option too?
Mainly I asked you because I really wanted to know how it is from someone who is doing it... So tell me what you study in aerospace and how do you find it, as much as you can share(I'm unaware of its future scope, etc)
EDIT 1:I love sports and most extra curricular activities, thus the IITs have me pretty starstruck right now...
EDIT 2:I keep adding things... I was just saying that anything you guys can say about the iits would be helpful, right now i don't know much. Internships, exchange programs, lectures, festivals, hobby clubs anything you have to say about this would help me more than you can imagine...Thanks again!
Hi Siddharth Brahmbhatt ! In my opinion it all depends on what your priorities are. Some people are very branch conscious and are willing to pursue only the branch of their choice irrespective of the engineering college. But there are others who prefer the college over the branch. So it all depends on which group you belong to. I myself was eligible to pursue Computer Science at BITS Pilani but as I was not very interested I decided to opt for IIT instead. Btw I am not pursuing Aerospace but Engineering Physics (Dual Degree) at IIT Bombay. Since the academic structure for the first two semesters is common to all branches I can't tell you much about my branch right now. However I am sure its going to be great!
In terms of sports, culture and extra curricular activities IIT Bombay is a great place with many opportunities. So in conclusion I would like to tell you to think carefully and make the correct decision based on your interests ⌣¨

Thanks :-)
I was thinking about engineering physics too as an option... did you take 5 year aerospace?
I asked this coz I heard you couldn't switch from 4 yr to 5 yr courses and vice versa... any truth to that? and how practical is seeking a branch change?( i mean should i pursue some stream i'm not completely excited about thinking i'd change it? although i am a little confident that i wont do badly but still it seems risky)
EDIT: i forgot to add that I'm not branch conscious, I'd pretty much go where life takes me ;-) currently i feel it'd be anything from CSE,EE,mech, aerospace, engg physics, math & computing these are some can name right now...
but i am concerned about the college i go to and as i mentioned i would prefer it to be iit bombay, delhi, madras, kanpur or kharagpur more or less.

I think only a B.tech option is available in Aerospace at IIT Bombay. Branch change is not a very easy option and only a select few enjoy the privelege. But of course with regular study and consistent performance it is not impossible.
You are willing to consider every single college that I didn't. I am currently in IIT Madras. BITS was not much of an option, since I got EE at IIT itself, and I am interested in electronics. I didn't get EE in the other IITs, so I chose IITM. Seems like you aren't considering IITM...if you are, reply to this post.

Haha seems you caught me... I'll be honest I was a little apprehensive regarding Madras at first and the obvious reason is I live in Vadodara - Mumbai is the only place which doesn't seem a huge distance away...
But that was before... My teachers knocked some sense into me, saying Madras is one of the finest IITs and I even talked to Soham Parikh, who is from Vadodara too and presently studies at iit-madras.
So now I'm indeed looking at Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, maybe Rourkee. Although my first choice might be Bombay, I am open to taking admission in any of these.
How wonderful, my son is also going to enter BITS Pilani for an engineer. He has his last year at school and he is quickly preparing to enter this institution. He is very fond of science. From time to time he is looking for resources that will help him in his studies to spend more time on research. His friends, who are already in college, have offered the website https://writingbros.com/essay-examples/science/ where they can write articles on various topics. It is very good that this site has free examples of science essays. My son is very fond of working with numbers and scientific data, but does not like to write essays. We will try to do our best to get into this educational institution.
