Even and odd numbers

The question poses how many even numbers are there in the following sequence:

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

I answered 5 (2, 4, 6, 8, 10), but the solution said 6, and included the number 0 as an even number. I was given to understand that 0 is the absence of value, and thus is neither even or odd. Thoughts?

The reason is simply because zero is integer multiple of 2
