Are all provisional scores out? Because in mine it shows 0 while I have done four correct questions with two almost fully shown working. I don't get it . I'm from Uttarakhand by the way... Also the year is given 2017. I really don't know what is happening.

RMO cutoff is same for classes 8,9,10 and 11 The cutoff varies according to the state. So if you are curious about the RMO cutoff you have to specify the state. And for your convenience the cutoff last year was 55 in West Bengal. I am currently not sure about the cutoff of other states so I would dare not to increase any speculation by randomly guessing false cutoffs.

In q4 the combinatorics problem I wrote the following solution. There are at least 13 points of same colour. Now by pigeonhole theorem 2 there is at least 4 equidistant point with 3 same colour,(13=4×3+1).I have explained the above statement. How much marks will I get for this.

I just got to see my rmo provisional score and I got 8 M. I am expecting much higher, so I need your guidance. Please help. I am posting a brief summary of my answer I wrote in my answer sheet. I you have time please read and suggest me something.

I did Q.2, correctly, applied AM-GM as gave clear explanation of everything. I expected 17 M for this. In Q.4, pigeon hole one, I assumed that there are at least 3 colours in 1st row and showed all the cases. I did more than 80% correct, but at last I messed a bit. I wrote a bit lengthy answer stating each possibilities, but still I expected 13+. Then, comes Q.1, as per Allen paper, it solved it using Tangent secant theorem and sine rule. I did it using Tangent secant theorem and one construction. I doubt if the construction part is wrong, but then too I expected 5M for it. I then did Q.5, I think it would be a false attempt as I used hit and trial and predicted the following number. These were right but I don't expect any marks on it. Then comes last question, I could have solved it but due to shortage of time I first wrote my objective in short on how I will prove it(will make angle in same segment equal) and start doing it. But could even complete 25% of it. Still I am expecting 35+ marks. What should I do. I need your opinion please.

As the candidates are eligible to apply for reevaluation, hbcse must publicise the criteria for evaluation of RMO papers. It would also be better if scanned evaluated sheets are also made available while displaying scores, so that students know where exactly they have to draw the attention of examiners for reevaluation. Else, it becomes a blind request for revaluation, without being able to e pinpoint where exactly the examiners have gone wrong in evaluating the papers.

Yes that's right. There would be some transparency in revaluation. Atleast for people who pay for revaluation, they should show scanned sheets. We can collectively request them on their fb page

If entire answersheet can not be displayed, they should at least display the problem wise score for each candidate, so that that examiners know which problem exactly, they want to be revaluated.

Actually your chance is almost improbable. This year many are getting above 50. The lowest cutoff in the last two years was around 36. That was in 2016.

There are So many cases are arising on #RMO2018 paper evaluation, some solved 3 questions but got 8 marks, some solved 4 but got 20 marks etc
HBCSE & Regional Coordinators should open up their mind & policies for revaluation with an Ombudsman in presence of the student, if the student is asking for such an arrangement.
There are a lot of hidden talents in rural India and suburbans they have alternative answers but neither evaluated nor understood properly. They are talents but victims.
There are evaluating teachers who neither have a teaching experience nor experience in solving Olympiad problems. Its observed that Regional Coordinators office some times colluded by individuals or influential institutions.
Please share your Your views, why there shouldn’t be transparency in RMO revaluation process?

I agree. The revaluation seems to have become a business trying to collect Rs.500 from the students without any guaranteed clarifications from Regional coordinators. Students deserve a better system which is more transparent. Atleast share scanned answer copies of students who pay for revaluation.

Very true sir Sir i have found there are collusion’s in between influential institutions & RMO Coordinators offices. A particular set of people are entrusted in the core job of evaluation in RMO Coordinators offices & the Coordinators are chosen as olderly inactive Rubber stamps.
Thats why 1.3 billion population country has no place in top 25 where as the IMO toppers are of Indian Origin.

0-2 maybe, depending on the person. There are many teachers who have disqualified children from even 0.5 marks away from the cutoff, so really nothing is predictable.
Check Answer key of Resonance for Mumbai and Ahmedabad region!(No matter everyone had many similar questions)
I have a doubt. Do people qualify for INMO if they get more marks than the cut-off or top 30 in a region or both the conditions? And BTW, the answer key for Rajasthan region is also uploaded in the website mentioned by Naitik.

Yes but in pre rmo also only range was given.Here no such thing is there .Its completely subjective and each problem is a challenging and sophisticated one but if you enjoy doing non-routine mathematics then you don't need to worry as this is the platform for those persons only.
There are usually 6 problems in the paper and 3 hours are provided.For Mumbai Region its 8 problems for 4 hours.

If marking is correct then expect 10 marks. I did all the things right but in last , I don't know how I applied the sum of gp formula incorrect. What a blunder it was but I also expect 8 marks in it. I did 2 and 5 questions absolutely right and geometry no 6 half.

Yes.
In UP the score you get also depends on how well you have expressed your solution. So an expected score of 34 may turn out to actual score of 20-25. Examiners deduct marks for various reasons. Last year the highest in UP was 49. Most states had highest marks more than UP. So do expect tough marking. If you can however score 34, you have a very good chance. Remember, this year the paper was tougher and the cut off last year in UP was 28.

That is a big issue. As far as I understand, evaluation of papers in different regions is left entirely to the discretion of the regional coordinators . There is no uniformity in evaluation across different regions and probably no standard evaluation guidelines as well. Hence, there is always a regional distortion in RMO scores . HBCSE should address this issue. In fact, in this era of technology, it is possible to scan the answer sheets and send for evaluation by a panel of hbcse appointed quality examiners who may or may not belong to the region. This can ensure greater transparency and fairness in evaluation process.

More than 4 marks if checking is good and at least 3 marks.Expect a overall 3-6 marks in such cases.No marks are given for given,to prove but it is given for neat and correct diagram.If you have written something more which is a part of the solution then expect 8 marks.

it depends,if you draw ONLY the diagram and not anything else you may even get a 0 IF you draw a diagram and write something(some kind of observation) related which actually HELPS then you may get AT MAX 5 marks

For the second question: i substituted x=1 and got n=1 now i proved using the following statement : if x is any value other than 1 then the equation will not be true at N=1, so if there is a possible value of x it must be 1 the i proved that x=1 is true for all values of N

It is just a hit and trial by you.You must have applied hit and trial and you wrote some Lines to impress the examiner but you are just bluffing.It will affect largely on your total RMO Score.You will surely get less than expected.

For the 4th question: let us take all the 25 pionts are red the the given statement is obviously true similarly ist is obviously true for 24 red and 1 blue if we keep on going like this it is difficult to prove the case for 12 Red and 13blue .. so if we prove this for this case it is directly proved for all the remaining cases (from 11 red we can prove the 3 same colour points for blue) and i took a case and proved it that it is possible for three points to be of same colour in the case and hence it is true for every other case. Plz tell me how many matks will i get ??

No I haven't sent for re evaluation but I have done 3.5-4 questions correct , I am thinking of re evaluation . I have heard cases where people getting 29 marks got 63 in actual,there may be any technical issue regarding publishment of results sot is better to apply for reevaluation.

Ok first start doing concept of physics by hc Verma.Its a conceptual book and you can study it by own.Do attempt NSEA too if you are appearing for NSEP.After this when you will come to class 11th you should be able to finish your 11th.Till November just focus on major topics of class 12th but this time do practice from the books which are suitable for physics olympiads like I.E. Irodov,SS Krotov. Warning:Before attempting physics olympiad books ensure that you arare done with nicest of class 11th and 12th and hc Verma.IE irodov and SS krotov are only for INPHO and OCSC.You can skip Modern physics if you want.Also Some mechanical properties of matter is also worth of skipping.Do cover major topics like-Whole Electrostatics with hc Verma and full geometrical optics except young double silt experiment.In All you just follow your coaching modules to get through NSEP in 11th.

I feel it is okay to get reevaluated. But from my experience, I have never got any extra marks during reevaluation.

I have heard that if revaluation request is on frivolous grounds (in your request letter you have to clearly specify, question wise , why you think your score is much below what you deserve) , they may get irritated, scrutinize your paper more closely, and if required even downgrade your score. So you have to be very sure. It should not be a routine request just to test your luck.

Ask in your school or Centre .If u r not able to know ur score then visit to the rmo website and send a complain to hbcse regarding it through email.Contact your regional coordinator.He will assist you.
