Fatal accidents

Recently I heard of an accident and I want to know the reason behind it.

A man decided to heat a bowl of water in microwave oven. I am not sure about how long he set the timer for but he wanted to bring to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup he noted that the water was not boiling but suddenly blew up into his face. He was injured severely.

So be careful and also find the reason behind it..
