Featured Solutions

So, I recently unlocked my Contributions page in my profile, and most of you probably know about it coz I've been bragging about it everywhere, even though its not that big of an achievement. But I have noticed that on the side, there is something caled a Featured Solution, and I have 2 featured solutions.

What is a featured solution?\large \text{What is a featured solution?}

When I asked Brilliant Mathematics, he\she gave me a mysterious reply stating this -

"It is as it's described. You can personalize your own profile page with the contributions that you're proud of"

Which totally doesn't make sense to me. Please help!!!!!!!!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Percy, show your contributions page!

I think it means solutions you made that were at the top (or most upvoted) in the problem. I am sure that a featured solution counts when you have the top/first explanation on a daily challenge, not sure whether that applies to community problems as well.

Oh! But I never got a top solution, my highest was yesterday's challenge where I got the second best solution

That's interesting, it might be one of the community problems then...

@Mahdi Raza I don't think its the community problems either.............................but when my solution became 2nd yesterday my featured solutions jumped to 2 from 1, so I have a lead..........................

I don't know, I think every solution that has a minimum nn number of upvotes becomes featured. But I am not sure.

Vinayak Srivastava - 10 months, 2 weeks ago

I don't know about featured solutions, I think the same as Vinayak, except that the number nn varies from question to question, and is gained using an algorithm of some kind

Peace :D

I think you are confused between top solutions and featured solutions. Top solutions can at max be 3 of them, but featured can be many many. Please correct me if I am wrong

I understood my misunderstanding, thanks @Mahdi Raza!

I think you can be feautured member only once. You are a feautured member already, because you wrote your 10th solution on July 16. BTW Brilliant Mathematics aren't a group? I'm a featured member by a top solution. And you(@every body)?

LOL @Vinayak Srivastava wrote his 5th problem and I wrote a popular solution on May 11

@A Former Brilliant Member See your page, you have 38 feature solutions.

@Vinayak Srivastava Interesting. When I see my contribution page, then I can't see the numbers. Impact and nothing.

A Former Brilliant Member - 10 months, 2 weeks ago

@Páll Márton - Yes, I was a featured member for my 10th solution, but I'd rather have it for a popular solution like you. I was talking about featured solutions, and its there under Impact in your Contributions page. Did you know that Calvin Lin, some one from Brilliant staff used to make notes 5 years ago, every month or so, about a Brilliant member who is awesome, called featured member notes.

Did you get the Infinity War reference? On Titan, Spiderman goes through Dr.Strange's portals, while attacking Thanos.

@Waddles Pines Cool :)

Featured solutions mean the solutions which you want to feature in your contributions page and you are proud of, show others which solutions are the best ones you have written. By default, most probably I think it would be your top solutions but I changed some of my solutions to the ones which I really liked, you might see the Edit button in your solution, there is also a "Add to My Contribution" button also along with the delete button which is useful when your solution is the one you are not proud of.
