How is it possible that there are 31 people who solved this week's 300point problem of geometry and combinatorics 133 days ago. I can only assume the problem was posed already a couple of months ago. The ones who solved the problem back then are excluded from this week's competition? How does that work then? Another question is that after solving all problems I keep on getting bumped down the leaderboard not only by people with more lifetime points, but also by people with less lifetime points. How is this possible?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

is the leader board partially based on lifetime points? In that case, perhaps we need a better criteria for tiebreaking.Who solves first,is again not a good criteria.I may start my problem solving when I get time(maybe friday),and I'll never be able to appear in the leaderboard.number of trials needed to solve a problem seems like a fair criteria.(note:I've even seen my point going up on submitting a wrong answer at the 1st try).
