I am pleased to announce that we have partnered with Adventures of the Mind, and will be nominating Brilliant members to attend the Adventures of the Mind Achievement & Leadership Summit this summer.

The Leadership Summit provides talented teens a unique opportunity to spend a week meeting, greeting, quizzing, challenging, conversing, and dining with an all-star faculty of mentors: Astronauts, artists, dinosaur-wranglers, economists, engineers, entrepreneurs, inventors, Nobel laureates, programmers, scientists, scholars, tech titans, and writers.

The summits are based on the belief that getting to know great achievers and sharing their interests and experiences can serve as a roadmap for talented young people. Over the course of the program, students will participate in workshops and seminars that will guide them in the development of their own unique paths to success by exploring possible career paths. They will exchange ideas and forge new connections. As part of this process the program includes fundamental curriculum that is too often overlooked in schools: critical thinking skills, financial literacy, and leadership training. All this is done in an attempt to fulfill the organization's mission to educate and inspire students to develop into responsible leaders who understand the meaning of caring for others and contributing to a better society.

There is also a lot of fun during the week that includes a Tournament of Games featuring backgammon, chess, poker, and scrabble that is coached by champion players; visits to local cultural and scientific institutions; and a gala that features music and dramatic performances.

Your birthday must be between June 22, 1995 - June 15, 1999 to apply.

If you’re interested in the program, you can apply for our nomination by going through the following steps on Brilliant:

Fill out your profile however you see fit to tell us about yourself. Ideally, complete 2 of the essay prompts.
Complete your address and phone number fields
At the bottom of the application, click the “Apply for Adventures of the Mind” button.

This will reveal a few additional fields for you to complete.

Click “Submit” when done.

We will nominate students on a rolling basis, so the earlier you apply the better your chances. The final deadline to submit your profile to us is April 6, 2014.

If you are a finalist for nomination, we will follow up and conduct an interview with you via Skype. If accepted, we will help you complete the rest of the application to Adventures of the Mind.

What are the dates of the camp?

June 15-22, 2014

How much is tuition?

Tuition for the entire program including curriculum, materials, all meals and lodging, special events and performances, and transportation during the program is $1,975 USD.

For members of Briliant.org, tuition will either be free or half the full price due to scholarships ($987.50).

Do they offer financial aid?

Yes! Scholarships range from 25-100% of the tuition to those who can demonstrate financial need. The program’s goal is to provide scholarships ranging from 25% to 100% of the tuition to more than 50% of the campers.

What are the income parameters for a family to receive a scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Typically, families who receive our larger awards make no more than $65,000 USD yearly (sometimes far less).

Is the program open to students outside the United States?

Yes.
