This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

A suggestions for students who are confused between the choice of IITs and IISc:
IITs are known much for its engineering courses in India. If you like employing tools of science to tackle real life problems such as building skyscrapers to designing circuits. Then you should opt for the IITs without doubt. But if you want to dig deeper into a particular subject on the other hand, then you must go for a BS into that subject from IISc. BS in IISc is of 4 years duration unlike the normal BSc.
STRICTLY FOR BRILLIANT COMMUNITY: I did B.Tech.(Hons.) in E & ECE at IIT / Kharagpur in late 60's and then M.E. in ECE at IISc / Bangalore in early 70's. Both are great places to be in. I think if someone has to choose between the two, then it is tough. I can be contacted for any help / questions on my mobile +91-98 10 603089 ( Gurgaon, India)
I want to know, who all are going there. I'm getting admission in IISc. But I'm confused whether to go to IISc or IIT. I'll get approximate rank upto (250).
I really want to go to IISc but my teachers, friends and even family want me to go to IIT.
So If I know that many people are going to IISc to I think I'll be able to convince them that my decision is correct.
Really Good rank. Though i am quite inexperienced in this domain but i would like to make a suggestion that choose what you want to do. Of course iit is today like a very popular brand and most people who suggest it to you dont actually know what it means. Even if i get a chance i would have preffered iisc as i am very interested in theoretical physics ( I hope so i would get a chance next year) but its your own decision and choose what you want to become.

Currently in class XII. You would be glad to know that several other brilliantians were talking about going to iisc. I dont remember their names but you would know them when reply to your note. Best of luck for your future.
Congrats and according to me if u r passionate abt science then u should opt for IISc or else u can get any IIT because of such a good rank.U should opt for IISc if research matters to u more than building....
P.S Its just a suggestion and I'm not experienced I just wrote what I think abt IISc..

Yes, the program is good. There they told us that about 40% of students stayed there for 5th year because they think that they can get a paper published by working on their project.
Most of the rest went to do PhD in foreign countries. About 4 students went for MBA and 2 students went for jobs.
It seems that job prospects is not very good but it has excellent opportunities in academic career.
Besides teachers and students in IISc are very wonderful.
Yeah I think if research is what is most important for you then you should not leave the opportunity to study in IISc.
I am also attending the counseling session at IISc on Jul-1. Will be filling in choices for IIT too. But waiting till counseling to make my final decision. I think we should take what we like.

I'm looking forward to meeting you too. :) But don't know if we'll be meeting other people though, cutoff for this counselling (JEE MAIN) is 325 marks!
