This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

It could be. Though I haven't seen an argument for it's being undefined which could not be refuted by turning the coordinate plane into a torus (like this post I did).
if the coordinate plane is changed then the conditions are changed.
this is why the definition is: 1/0 = undefined ("Cannot divide by zero").
if it where defined to 0 or infinity or something else then there are cases where it does not fit.
so to find the solution to 1/0 (if there is one), the conditions of the case where it is used have to be checked.
I don't see why there is so much discussion in this matter, it's really quite straightforward that dividing by zero is nonsensical. https://brilliant.org/wiki/division-by-zero/

He's pointing out the fact that Google's calculator says infinity, when the correct answer should be undefined. The limit of the expression 1/x as x approaches 0 should be infinity, not the actual value. The actual value should be undefined. Either way, it's really just pedantic. Doesn't matter in the long run.

I have a post which contains the history of this problem. Go to "Unsolved Questions - 1"
It could also be Undefined, @David Stiff.

Yeah, Undefined/Infinite I did this on another calculator. If yall use photomath it also states undefined.

Yeah. Except you thought that it was 0! Literally the one thing it's not is 0.

I never said it was zero duhhh! I know it is undefined
