This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Silas Hundt I want a video of the Brilliant team doing this dance, set to The Safety Dance. Bonus points for @Calvin Lin stubbornly doing the correct sin(x) and log(x).
This brings back memories... I was forced to do this "dance" during our club session once... And the last one was some tangled arm thing labelled as crap
That is very good idea to learn functions with my children:) Thank you! We will make them without mistakes. But also I think that it will be good to present them with any mistake, which the children have to find them!

Sorry to be a party pooper, but y=sinx, y=logax are wrong.
y=ax should also include the qualifier a>1 lol.
Perhaps we should make this an MCQ of "How many mistakes are there?"

Such a party pooper.

You're just jealous you don't have those dance skills ;D
y=sinx is definitely wrong. I reckon y=logax is right if a<1. Maybe I'm wrong. Lol.
If a<1, then also the graph is wrong. The domain of the function is positive real numbers, so the graph is definitely wrong
Log in to reply
0<a<1. But of course, you're right in saying that.
Well, the shape looks legit, at the very least. :P I should've also said:(
Ahaha I was actually looking at some of these and thinking to myself some seem a bit off!

Hahaha!
Dance functions, dance!
Wow! Nice drawing!
By the way , what is that written on the top ?
No idea, maybe @Calvin Lin knows?

Chinese for "function dance"

However, converting the words to Chinese (Direct translate) is maths (physical) exercise, with my interpretation.
@Silas Hundt There's a poster of this in my old Precalculus class, with one addition: a person with his arms all tangled up labeled "WTF?"
This brings back memories... I was forced to do this "dance" during our club session once... And the last one was some tangled arm thing labelled as crap
y = [x] , this function makes it a grand party!
@Suyeon Khim and @Peter Taylor ...
Nice, @Silas Hundt
That's funny. :D
Sir now you dance in parties like that's :)
Very funny and cool
The Last One is missing!!......a strange hand movement and was termed as 'crap'
And poor hyperbole just can't help but glance at their asymptotes :p
IT'S A VERY GOOD AND FUNNY TOO

This is irrelevant, but how to attach pictures in notes?

Thank you
But will it be shown as this pic or as a link?
How did you write the format for pasting a pic , with a box around it ?

‘text‘ renders
