HELP NEEDED

Hi friends , I recently watched a video by Make Magazine in which there was a section in which we were shown how DIY Aerial Photography could be done by , Kite Aerial Photography Expert ,Charles C Benton . Now in it he showed us some beautiful pictures which are shown below and he said that those were mere reflections of the sky .

I couldn’t quite grasp it, so I searched on the Internet but couldn’t find a satisfactory answer for the colour of the reflections that are in the pictures. I was quite astonished at the colours that have turned up , I mean how many of you have actually seen yellow or green water ? And since Physics isn't my forte , I couldn't understand it myself .

So can anyone of you guys help me with this problem ? If possible can you please be specific in relating to the facts pertaining to the different colours of the sky .

Also can anyone identify what's in the last pic, seems to me like a tree that was cut ?

I think like it is a conical roof of some artistic place . which has a cylindrical base.

There can be more interpretations. 1 Since these pics depict pink , yellow water so it may be possible that the tree /roof or whatever it maybe isn't in its natural colour.So we may think that it a is a scene of an Indian rural village where we have this traditional hut which was once used for storing cowdung for manuring and stuff. 2 It is like a top of a storehouse of someone which is in a place where it rains a lot .That I state on account of the fact that there is deeper shade of red at some places which indicates that water flows from that place and it flows again before it dries up. 3It can yet be an unused tent and that is indicated by the presence of that pole or whatever that maybe(at the centre of all the concentric circles)

@Raven Herd – Your theories seem plausible but I don't think that picture has anything to do with India since I haven't read anything about Mr. Charles coming to India, well it's just a hunch .

Anyway thanks for your reply . How about a theory for the other pics ?

For months I waited for a southeasterly wind so I could fly the camera from the yacht club's parking lot over an adjacent field of disused oil tanks. The tanks hearken back to a more industrial period at Brickyard Cove, a time when commercial shipping delivered oil of various types for subsequent distribution. The oil tanks are now in various stages of disrepair and appear to be waiting someone willing to invest in a site cleanup.

...In the view we are looking down at the top of a large storage tank. You can see concentric rings where steel plates are joined to form the tank's conical top. Across the conical top, which we see as a circle, there is a straight line (running from the upper right toward the lower left.) This line in three dimensions is a parabola. My theory is that it represents a joint made during the relocation of the tank. I am guess it was dismantled by cutting it into large sections (thus the straight line), moved, and then reassembled.

Edit :- Also, most articles I find mention that they are SALT lakes. Maybe that would help?

Edit 2:- http://waynesword.palomar.edu/plsept98.htm Some lakes are infact of different colors due to bacteria and the salt. The link has views of some of those lakes from a different perspective.

Edit Final:- This link explains why the lakes are colored differently. The high levels of brine allows certain bacteria to flourish, which color the pond/lake. It is not caused by the sky. Also, you can find more pictures of differently colored lakes by googling "salt ponds"
