Help someone in need, you'll find inner peace.

Yesterday, a office boy who works in the institute where I teach came to me and we had a little conversation as follows :

The boy : Sir, I want to study. Will you please teach me ?

Me : What do you want to study ?

The boy : English. I don't know to even read English, but I want to learn.

Me : Up to which class you've studied ?

The boy : Sir up to 10th class.

Me : So, you've studied English in 10th class ?

The boy : No sir, in our school English was replaced with "Sanskrit". And there was no one in the school to teach English. That's why I couldn't learn it.

Me : If you want to study, then I will teach you. But for that you've to work very hard. So are you ready for that ?

The boy : Yes sir, I am ready to work day and night, But I want to study.

Me : Okay. Tell me , why do you want to study ?

The boy : Sir, I want to become a good person like you in the future.

Me : You're already a good person, because you're honest, truthful and work very well.

The boy : Sir, that's fine, but I want to become a teacher like you. And I want to make my parents and my family happy and free of financial problems.

Me : okay. That's great !

, then I bought some note-books and pen for him, and taught him how to combine letters and read English and promised him to make him learn English very well.

May God bless him !

(The whole conversation was in Hindi.)

Some months ago, I met a Physics-Faculty. He was fresher for teaching at that time. He came to my institute, and I trained him for teaching. For that, I gave him approx. 7 lectures regarding teaching skills, do's and donot's, how to prepare notes for teaching, how to make a wonderful use of board, audio and visual effects of teacher and many other things (However, the training was not official, I did that personally because I found him lagging behind in many things at that time). After some days, he left the institute. And then onwards I had no information about that guy.

But day before yesterday, I got a call from that guy. He got a very high-salaried teaching in some other institute and gave the whole credit for that to me. I was surprised !!!! I asked what role did I play in that ? He told me a lot of things which I taught him in that training session and then onwards he was following all those tips given by me. Had a very nice conversation with that Physics-Faculty.

When such events occurs, this makes me fall in love again with teaching, being passionate and always helping others. It gives me priceless happiness, peace and it boosts up my self-esteem and my passion. It takes me more close to myself and humanity.

So, when someone in need is asking for your help, you ought to do that. On doing so, you will feel very peaceful and happy from inside. And such happiness, you can never get anywhere else, and trust me, after wandering everywhere for everything, finally you will search this happiness.

Live life for others, help them when in need and you will never feel yourself helpless.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.
