Hone Your Problem Solving Skills in a Concept

Update: 4000 of our most popular problems can now be accessed through the various wiki pages!

I would like to highlight the ability to view problems written up by others on a given wiki page. These problems are displayed on a wiki page under Community Posts. Currently, over 2000 of our most popular problems can be accessed on the wiki page, which offers you an easy way to grill yourself in applying the skill. Many thanks to the prolific problem writers who have taken their time to place their problem in the correct skill.

Examples of wiki pages with excellent writeups and a lot of problems are:

Vieta's Formula
Complex numbers
Applying the Arithmetic Mean - Geometric Mean Inequality
Composite Figures

We are still in the midst of improving this feature. Many people have recently discovered this feature and really love it, which is why I am calling your attention to it before it is fully formed. Over time, more of the popular problems will be added to this list, especially with the help of problem creators (see below). Also, we will provide filtering options to allow you to hone in on the relevant problems.

Note: If you spot a problem that is in the wrong wiki (esp if none of the solutions use the skill), please let me know and I can fix it.

For those who are eager to contribute to the Wiki, the following pages have a lot of interesting problems attached, but are lacking explanations to learn from. I would appreciate if everyone can add an example here and an example there :)

For problem creators, it would be greatly appreciated if you start adding skills to your problems and notes.
When first creating a problem, select the relevant topic/subtopic/chapter/skill from the dropdown menu.
For old problems, simply select "edit problems" from the “dot dot dot menu”.

Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.

So, I encountered this problem: How could anyone know which topics have been written already?

For e.g if I decided to contribute a wiki on integers how would I know that if anyone has already contributed it or not. Also how could anyone find all the wikis. I had to write in the search bar 'wiki', then got a list of wikis. So, I just wanted to know, isn't there any other convenient way to navigate around the wikis? If there were, it would be extremely helpful.

Anyways, I would like to contribute to the wikis. I had only been using it lately. So, getting to know which topics have been already included would very much help to find which are not. And @Calvin Lin the 'Complex numbers' link in your above post leads to 'Modular arithmetic' instead of 'Complex numbers'. (6_6)

Wikis were only introduced 3 short months ago, and we are in the process of improving it and adding better functionality.

Currently, (almost) all of the wikis are linked in the practice section. Each of the practice section skills will link to the corresponding wiki page, from which you can start editing. If you know you want to write on a certain topic, then like you mentioned, you can do a search for it, and filter for wikis (on the left column), to see if a page exists. You can also Post a new wiki, and if it is a duplicate, we will merge it accordingly.

We are working on ways to make wikis more prominent. For example, we have the "featured wiki" list on the home page, which highlights excellent articles that have been recently written. We will add more functionality / discovery mechanisms as momentum picks up.

(It's partly a chicken and egg issue. When there is nothing in the wiki, we don't really want to publicize it to everyone. Yet, if it is not publicized, then no one would write anything in it. We are getting to the stage where a good percentage of the wikis have decent material on them, which is would make the experience better for everyone)

I am sorry for posting this here. I know its inappropriate, but I needed to solve this issue. I have already e-mailed support@brilliant.org but did not receive any reply. So, I will post it here. I want to open a B2 account, but here for some reason they are showing the amount to be paid in Taka(Currency of Bangladesh), not Dollars. But my credit card only accepts dollars. Can you please help me?

Can we add topics in wiki? I have seen Fibonacci numbers(which, I'm afraid, I think I cannot contribute till late February) but I have not seen other interesting numbers such as Catalan, Carmichael etc.

You can post a new wiki page by selecting "Post something - Wiki". If it is suitable, we will then add it to the skill maps.

Wikis on interesting numbers like Catalan, Carmichael, etc are certainly welcome :)

Currently there is a bug in the brilliant app(android) I cant edit the topic of posted problem as you can see in the above image, I'll surely do if this gets fixed :)
