How did you do on the AMC?

A sequel to my other post on preparation. For those who did well, Congratz! If you didn't, don't give up, you could get a second chance by taking the B tests(I didn't know that until I read it on AoPS yesterday that you can take both A and B).

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

I'm a little sad, 87 points on AMC 12A... respectable for my first AMC and for a freshman, but still somewhat disappointed. I've also got to buckle up for test B.

don't worry, I was exactly like a lot of other people who didn't do well on the AMC last year as a freshman, although I wasn't informed that a test B was available. However, if I were to take the B test after the tragic result of 12A(75 or something), I don't think I would've done any better. Honestly I just felt unprepared, and after a full year, I felt ready. As a result I did reasonable on this one, mainly because I was able to solve each problem calmly and confidently.

Yup! :) I don't think I did very well for AMC A ! Saw the videos posted today on Youtube! The last few questions are actually quite manageable! :( Got to buck up for AMC 12B! :) All the best for all those taking part in AMC too!
